Help please! What will I do since I don't have insurance?

If they have been vaccinated, I would go. When my DS was 4, he played with someone who came down with chicken pox. He never got a thing.

If they have not been vaccinated, then I would urge you not to go. There are plenty of babies at WDW, and I don't believe this vaccination is until 12 months. Chicken pox can be very dangerous for babies.

Well...I would talk to your pediatrician. If they say it is ok to go, then go ahead.I will offer my opinion in that ,I personally would not go.Even though they have been vaccinated, I will echo a PP and say that many people have not been ,or may have compromised or aging immune systems.Your children are still contagious until the lesions scab over, and it is still considered a communicable disease. There is a reason we isolate these patients in the hospital, and keep children home from school when they get it.

Well, we didn't purchase insurance when we booked through AAA. Stupid, I know! Our trip is in 3 days and I think my sons may come down with chicken pox. They were exposed to my niece probably 3 times during her incubation period, and her spots just showed up yesterday. Anyway, do I have any options if they get it? Am I just going to lose all my money? I am panicking so much right now:scared: ! Thanks!
Christy

I was told when I booked that you can always change your vaction after you've booked as long as the new option costs more money.

I booked my trips without the dining plan and with just one day's tickets with the logic that if I decide to change I can always book the exact same trip with more ticket days. If I want to add the dining plan I can do it a few days before I leave, and I can add days once I get there.

So, can you call and ask to switch dates, and just make your new plan (slightly) more expensive?

I am also thinking of others too!:) I don't want to expose anyone! I am waiting for a nurse to call me back so I can talk to her more about it. We did have the vaccination so I want to see how bad my boys are going to be if they do get it. I mainly started this thread just to see what my options were if we decided not to go, since I don't have insurance.

I was thirteen when I came down with chicken pox. The virus gave my dad menengitis. He was VERY sick for along time. The doctor said that the virus from chicken pox is what made my dad sick. I felt so bad knowing it was me who gave him menengitis. Luckily his type wasn't the worst kind but he was still in the hospital for several days. My point of bringing that up is because if your child does have pox then older people could get the same thing my dad did. Just wanted to let you know another view point :)

I didn't read all of the replys , but a child in my dd's class got chicken pox, I was panicked and called her ped. He told me there was a small chance she would get it, and she never did:goodvibes So good luck to you, and maybe you'll be safe.

I don't know how old your boys are, but they do now recommend a booster dose for the chickenpox vaccine-you could get the booster to decrease the likelyhood of them coming down with the disease.
