Can I ask all you e-bay buyers/sellers to tell me about Paypal? How does it all work? Is it secure?

If I want to open an account with Paypal, for renting DVC points eg, do I need a personal PP account - there seem to be various options?

Hoping someone can help as I have possibly found someone who wants my points, but have no idea how to arrange the financial side of the transaction.

Thanks.

Gill ~

Paypal is very easy to use and extremely secure.

Your CC/DC is linked to your email address and when someone sends a payment to you it goes to your email address and then directly onto your card. When you first set-up the account Paypal will deposit/withdraw a small amount from that account. It is usually about 1p. Once this happens you inform them of the amount and this is proof that you are the actual account holder. Once all of this is done you are all set.

I've sent money via paypal to pay for an Illuminations Cruise and have used it many, many times for purchases from Ebay. Have always found it to work very well.

Hope this helps?

Thanks for that - so I can link it to my debit card - it doesn't have to be a CC? And is the Personal Account sufficient as their site mentions 3 types?

Thanks.

Gill ~ My paypal account is linked to my debit card. I have a personal account.

If I can be of more help pm me.

Gill - just to echo what Florence says really. I use PayPal all the time and it is very secure :)

I use my debit card as the form of payment too :)

I've used it a few times before with no problems either. Just be aware that if you use it to accept payments you will be charged very high fees. A standard bank transfer might be the better option. A parent asked if they could use it to pay their Nursery Fees once, and we were charged a fortune to accept the payment.

We would only want it for receiving a DVC rental payment from USA. Would you suggest a bank transfer for this? Sorry for my ineptitude, I don't buy on e-bay and have never experienced this before - not sure I want to bother now either :rotfl2:

I would use bank transfer, so you are not charged any fees..it is perfectly save, the details that you give them are on any cheques you send out anyway.

I would agree that a bank transfer would be a much more favourable way for you to receive money, because Paypal will deduct a % of the incoming monies in the same way shops pay Visa 2.75% of every Visa card transaction.

It's fine for receiving money on Ebay purchases of a smallish amount, and for paying someone else (where you don't get charged anything), otherwise it's not such a good deal.

Thanks, Guys, then if I get a renter - that's what I'll ask for.
