Hi, does anyone know what is the best transportation from the John Wayne Airport to Disneyland. We are staying at the Park Vue Inn on Harbor December 22-28th. How far in advance do I need to make a reservation for transportation?

We just walk out to the shuttle area and catch a shuttle with no reservation. Never had to wait long and it's typically $10/person.

Coming back we ask the hotel to get us a taxi. At Park Vue they typically call us a town car. It's usually a $45 flat rate to the airport.

Super Shuttle or taxi. Easy peasy either way depending upon how many people in your group and how big of a hurry you are in. :goodvibes

What if I have a 3 year old with me. Will cab pick my family up without a car seat or booster.?

Thank you for all your help! On another thread they were talking about a SuperShuttle. I guess one calls and makes a reservation. A taxi sounds easy too.

No, it is illegal in CA to transport a child under 6 without an appropriate child restraint. Even Super Shuttle says you have to provide one if they are going to transport a child. So if you're not going to bring a seat, your only option is the disneyland resort express.

I just called cab company in California. The women on phone said its up to the discretion of the driver. So what does that mean. If it was illegal wouldn't she of told me. Wish someone new for sure because everyone on these boards seems to have different experiences and info. I an from NY and not familiar with things in California.

It is 100% ILLEGAL to drive in a car or van without a carseat for a 3 year old. Some drivers will let older and bigger kids go since there are no airbags, etc. And really, why risk it...go with the Disneyland shuttle!

But are Cabs excempt. In NYC they are. If I do take shuttle from John wayne airport how many stops until we get to HOJOS. I just thought the cab would be so much faster. Why didn't the lady answering phone for cab company tell me its illegal instead of saying its up to discretion of driver.

No idea if Cabs are exempt, but again, really, why risk it for a few extra minutes, you would kick yourself if there was an accident and your child was not in a seat!

The CA law does not have an exemption in it for cabs. The driver can take you, but if they were pulled over or you were in an acciden they are held liable by law. So I would guess most wouldn't. And regardless, it is not safe. The laws of physics do not change just because it's a taxi and not a private car.

Yes, the above poster is so right ... A shuttle/cab or even a plane does not change the law of physics.

You really should have your child in a car seat in all of the above (even the plane) for optimum safety. Some of the drivers will do it, but they are taking a chance when they do.

We use Prime Time Shuttle. Same service as Super Shuttle, but usually comes out a couple of bucks cheaper.

Now I just searched the CA laws & found the Cali Highway Patrol website & this is what it says for child restraints:

Exceptions: Taxi driver on city street w/fare paying passenger, back seat of limousine and taxi
cabs for hire, sleeper berth, newspaper delivery, rural mail carriers, solid waste/recycled
collections, physically disabling or medical condition: duly certified by physician, surgeon, or
chiropractor, must state condition and reason.

So has this changed just recently?

They take the freeway from SNA to Disneyland, so they still are breaking the law if they do it.
