Help Please! Has anyone ever had Magical Express pick up luggage WITHOUT yellow tags?

My magical express packet never came. I called and they sent out a new one but I do not think it will be here before my flight date which is in 8 days.
I know that I can go to the ME desk and give them my luggage claim from the airline. Has anyone ever done this? How risky is it? Should I just go claim my own luggage? I can't travel carry-on only because I have an injured shoulder and can not lift my bag into the overhead compartment. I will be traveling solo.

Any advice or previous experience would be welcome.

Thanks,
Cheryl

The easiest way may be to check your luggage normally, pick it up at the MCO baggage claim and wheel it (or have a porter help) to the ME area. That is likely easier and you'll have your luggage as soon as you arrive at the hotel.

You can pick them up yourself and bring them on the bus.

But we did not get our yellow tags last trip and I had neglected to look in time to rectify the issue. So we picked up our own bags and brought them on the bus. But an ME CM told me that we could have brought our airline luggage tags to the ME desk and someone would have picked up the bags for us.

So you can do either. :)

I've had Magical Express pick up our luggage when the yellow tags didn't arrive and it was fine. I went up to the desk, gave them my baggage claim tickets. They showed me photos of luggage and asked which ones looked the most like ours. It took about 2 minutes. Luggage was delivered to our room just like all the other times when we had the tags. I'm sure they've dealt with that situation thousands of times.

No need to go down to baggage claim.

Just proceed to the ME area and take your baggage claim tickets to the desk at ME. They will call the information down to the ME staff, who will pull your bags.

I went one year, back when everyone had to stand in line to be processed because we were going on the land/sea package and you had to show passport, etc.

The couple next to me was frantic; they hadn't read any of the information before they left and their information books were in the checked baggage. They were told by their TA that "Disney would take care of everything." So as soon as they got off the plane they tossed their baggage claim tickets and plane tickets in the trash.

They could only remember what airline they had flown in on and what time they arrived. The CM spent a good fifteen minutes trying to track down their flight number, etc. Got the numbers for their baggage claim tickets and sent someone down there to personally pull their bags.

Sadly, the CM didn't go so much as a thank you; rather the opposite.:sad2:

But it shows you they will go above and beyond to take care of their customers.

You DON'T need to claim your checked luggage.

First, it's extremely likely you'll get your Magical Express packet before you leave. I've gotten mine the normal way most of the time, UPS twice, and not at all once (it's somewhere in Kentucky :confused3).

As Bobo912 and MissyTara said, just take your claim tags to the DME Welcome Center. They will locate your luggage and have it delivered to your room. The trip where I got no packet/tags? It took less than an hour and a half for my luggage to get to my room!

Just give the ME desk your luggage claims. Your luggage will be fine.
My ME tag was removed at my home airport by the curbside check in. I noticed it because I was sitting in the right spot to see my luggage loaded on to the plane. We took our bagage claims to the ME desk and told them what hapened and they took care ot it! No Problem!!!!:thumbsup2
