We are deciding what to do on July 4th. Now my guess is no matter where you go it will be packed that day. Magic Kingdom and Epcot being the worst. So here was my idea. Go to Animal Kingdom for the day and when Animal Kingdom closes go over to Epcot to get ready for the Special Fireworks show in tribute to america. What do you think would be a good idea? Help Please :)

Since I have never been to WDW over the 4th, I'm going to bump this back to page one for you.

We were in the world during the fourth of July last year. I would do it again in a heartbeat. On July third they put flyers under our doors stating that Mgm and Epcot would open one hour early. We went to MGM and the crowds were very manageable. We did use Fast Pass, but we always do so I don't know how much that affected things. We had a nice lunch at 50's prime time and then lined up to watch the special Fantasy in the Sky over the large hat in front of the theater. We stood very near the entrance gate and then easily exited and got the first bus back to the resort. I would think that your plan sounds good. Be sure to give yourself plenty of travel time between parks and stake out your spot early enough to enjoy!

i am also interested in people's tips/experiences of 4th july in the parks.

it will be our last full day of a 14 day trip. we plan to spend the whole day at MK and we don't plan to do too much, just to take in the atmosphere.

its only our 2nd trip to the US, so we want to experience the party that is 4th july!!!!

We've spent three different 4th of July's at MK and will go again! The crowds are large, but manageable. In fact, the crowd is part of the fun. The fireworks are over the castle and over the main entrance simultaneously. Then, at various times, the fireworks ring the park with the crowd in the middle. It's spectacular. And as I said, the big crowd makes it more enjoyable - the last time the crowd chanted "USA, USA..." at the end - it was very moving.

I was there for July 4 last year too, also at the Studios. The fireworks were good, but I hear they were better before they built that big-a** hat. I went to the studios around 2 PM and there were no major waits for anything, probably because it was raining and it wasn't the MK. I won't go near the MK, but that seems to be where most people want to spend the holiday. My situation is different because I arrived on the 4th and will do the same again this year. This year's plan is that my plane will land at noon on the 4th and I'll take transportation to the Swan, check in, walk to Epcot and spend the rest of the day there. After the fireworks I'm going to PI and close that out.
