HELP PLEASE!!! Dining Plan Questions about Apps and Sides!!

Please help with me questions!!!

1. Appetizer/Salad Question: When you're on the DxDP, and you go to a restaurant that has both appetizers and salads...do you just choose either the app OR the salad for your appetizer portion of the meal?

2. Side Item Question: At the places that have the steak or fish, etc.., and then various side items sold seperately, like potatoes or mushrooms, etc.. that are an extra cost in additon to the meat/fish, does your entree portion of the meal include the meat and the side item?

Or is it only included if it says the steak/fish comes with something else... I guess this would happen in most of the signature dining places.

3. Child Meal Question Substitution:...please don't flame me But, can a child's meal count as an appetizer on an adult's credit??? I am asking b/c we will have our DS2 with us, and the rule states that he can share with us, but I was wondering if an adult could choose a child meal for thier appetizer and skip it on the adult menu for themselves? No big deal ...just wondering, money isn't my reason for asking, as the children's meals aren't that much, usually cheaper than the app..it just that at home..DH and I share appetizers and if we did share them there, we'd have something else that we could order, and DS would need a meal. Right now, my plan is to pay OOP for him, but I was just curious as to what you could actually get for you credits...

1. I've seen it said (with authority, but I don't recall the link), that you may have soup or salad as your "appetizer". (Excluding dinner salads, of course.)

2. In general, if a side isn't listed as part of an entree, it isn't included. Ask your server if you can sub a side for something that is listed with the entree. Not sure how this works at true ala carte restaurants.

3. I sincerely doubt they'd let you order a child's meal as a substitute for your appetizer. You could get lucky, though. I'd suggest instead to order appetizers that you could use to make up the better part (or all of) a child's meal.

Yes. Soups, salads, and at some restaurants flatbreads and sushi are considered appetizers on the plan.

Your guess is right. Sides that are included with the entree are obviously included, but add-ons like the mushrooms at Yachtsman are not included on the plan.

I can't say for sure as I've never tried it, but I seriously doubt they'd allow this.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but it really leads into my questions. For the TS meal, is the appetizer/salad included? I know it was 2 years ago, but I thought I read on here that the TS is now just entree and dessert? BTW what is up with the gratuity not being included anymore? Is anyone else frustrated by that???

Appetizers are included with the deluxe dining plan, not with the regular dining plan. The OP has indicated they are on the deluxe plan. Gratuities are not included in either plan.
