I'm planning my families first vacation to Univeral Orlando for Jan. 2007. Is there a AAA "room-only" discount or do I have to buy a AAA package? Does Universal normally offer package deals and discounts on tickets in Jan--similar to the "HOT DEALS" they are offering this Summer? I want to stay on-site at the HRH preferably. Please offer all tips on where I can find the best room rates and ticket deals!!

:yay:

I'm not sure about any special deals for January, but you can get a AAA room-only discount. We did for our stay last week. Just mention that you are a member when you book your room. We saved quite a bit of money with the discount. I called Universal directly (PBH) to book my room. I didn't go through AAA.

Thanks! I did just that last night and received about 20% off. I did forget to give them my Loews First Number--so I'll have to call back tomorrow. Any specific tips for the parks? Kids are 4 and 9--really into everything BOY.

You've already taken the first step to making the parks more enjoyable with your kids - staying on-site. With FOTL, you'll be able to take your time touring the parks and still be able to do all the rides and shows over and over. I can't say enough about FOTL. It really made our vacation much more leisurely and enjoyable! :sunny:

To CSB: We're going for our first time to Universal at the HRH this January '07 too. I'll be booking at the AAA rate and just watching all the time for any better deals, then change over to that better deal. Are you flying down? What kind of airfare did you get if so? I'll be flying out of Pittsburgh and I'm waiting for a good fare, usually 4 - 6 weeks before the trip.

I'm a January traveller also!

CSB, just make sure you check the universal website regularly, to see if there are specials that come in cheaper than the AAA rate. If there are lower rates posted online, you can phone and have your rate switched. If your rate remains the AAA rate, you'll need your AAA membership card at check-in.

As far as tickets for the parks, from what I can gather, the best deals are again on the Universal website.

Thanks for all the comments. We boys are really exicted about seeing the Marvel Super Heros. We will actually be driving down from NC--usually takes us about 9 hours to reach Orlando.

We have scheduled 4 days for the vacation. Is this enough time to see the parks and enjoy the HRH?

Yes 4 days is a good amount of time for Universal property, that will give you enough time to do everything and then some. I would recommend taking a day each starting at IOA Day 1 Old Universal Park Day 2, take a whole day each and then spend the rest of the time re-doing the stuff you guys liked the best. I would recommend doing everything you can, not sure what the height restrictions may not allow you to do for your 4 year old, but I suspect that it will not prevent you from doing too much. Ride everything they will let you on, U doesn't really have a bad ride, other than maybe BAck to the Future, but I think they are closing that soon.
