I am debating between Jersey week and Thanksgiving week in 2022.

Core group is 2 adults and 2 kids (4 and 8 at time of the trip). Other people may join us. Either way we would probably get APs assuming they are on sale by then, if we do Jersey week we will stay on site, if we do Thanksgiving there is a chance, we stay offsite.

Kids will miss 2/3 days of school either way.

Some things I’m considering:

Crowds will probably be worse at Thanksgiving, but that isn’t a make or break for us. We went this year at Thanksgiving and loved the atmosphere and environment.

Jersey week crowds will probably be lower, and the way it falls it would over lap with Halloween which I cannot decide if I love or not. The kids could be really excited to go to the party and celebrate Halloween at Disney, or they could be annoyed they don’t get to spend it with their friends.

Depending on the schedule we may be able to run wine and dine if we do Jersey week which would be a huge plus for us as we love runDisney races.

Does anyone one have any pros or cons I am missing, or a strong argument for one week over the other?

If crowd levels are kept the same, there shouldn’t be a noticeable difference between the two weeks.

Disney has done trick or treating for kids during Halloween before, but I'm unsure if that will be available this year. They may loosen COVID restrictions by the time it rolls around. Also consider that October 1st will be Disney's 50th Anniversary. So it is likely that there could be more crowds than you are expecting, but there will also likley be many special events happening in celebration.

FYI. I was there this last Thanksgiving. It was not a normal crowd as in the past. Much lower.
This year is going to be busy both times, so pick the one you like!

If you are staying on property, check to see what options you have for both dates.

I’m looking at 2022, so assuming no more crowd level limits.

We’ll we are going October 1, so I’m not totally off put by crowds. But I’m think ahead to 2022.

I’m looking toward 2022 for this trip so dates aren’t open yet. We are going October for the 50th this year, this would be for the following year.

I would do Thanksgiving Week hopefully all of the holiday stuff will be back
by 2022. We have gone several times that week and it was crowded but manageable had a wonderful experience.

What is Jersey week?

What is Jersey week?

It’s usually the first week in November all school get at a minimum 2 days off for a teachers convention, but it’s also usually election week so lots of schools close the whole week. It’s a very popular week for people from NJ to go to Florida, especially Disney.
