We are doing the 4 nite cruise in October, this will be our first DCL cruise.I have read somewhere that we may need to take photo I.D. to go ashore,is this neccessary ? Our passports will have been surrendered at check - in. As we are from the UK we don't have an I.D. system as such ( previous UK cruisers will know ) Can anyone help clarify this for me ?

Thanks,

Keith ( UK )

I would think having a photo ID with you when you go ashore would be a good idea anyway. Many times when you use a credit card, you're asked for photo ID. HTH

Adults need a photo ID to get on the ship at the Port Canaveral
Terminal. The cast members will ask for it probably two or three times before boarding the ship.

While visiting ports like Nassau you will need to bring an photo ID with you to get back on board. Castaway Cay they seem more lienent but you should bring it just the same.

I don't have a drivers license with a photo so I brought my work ID and Sam's Club card; both have my picture on them and nobody at DCL gave me any hassle.

Hi keith , we had the same questions , we too are from uk, here was the answer from DCL , you only need your passports no other id is needed, but if you have photo driving licence you can always take it with you for car rental etc. don't forget though they need to have min 6 month validity from date of travel for us and caribbean ports. Have a great holiday.

Thank you for your e-mail.

All non-U.S. citizens are required to surrender citizenship papers at the pier during check-in. The
guest receives a copy of their documents and a receipt which can be used to debark the ship in the
ports of call.

We look forward to the chance to sail with you.

Sincerely,

Just to confirm...

When you surrender your passport at check-in tell them that you have no other form of photo-ID. To board the ship at Cape Canaveral you will then only have to present your Key to the World card and your passport receipt.

Sometime that evening a photocopy of your passport will be delivered to your stateroom and this is required along with your KTTW card any time you disembark/re-board the ship. (I suggest you keep the receipt you got in your in-room safe) If for any reason you don't get your photocopy then just call Guest Services and arrange to pick it up.

It's not a big deal but it's definitely easier if you have a Driving License rather than a folded up scrap of paper!

In the US, you can go to the Dept of Motor Vehicles and get a photo id for a small fee. Can you do the same thing in your country? Seems that would be a simple solution if it is possible.:sunny:
