Has anyone ever upgraded their old park hopper tickets (the ones dicontinued as of 1/1/05) to the new Magic Your Way tickets?

I understand that this can be done at guest relations at DTD or any of the parks.

I think I may want to do this, but I would like to get a rough idea of how much disney will give me for my old tickets toward an upgrade. They are completely UNWILLING to do this over the phone. I have tried.

I am thinking that if anyone out there has upgraded, and they can tell me what they had remaining on the old tickets and what they received to put toward MYW tickets, I could figure it out (roughly).

I have 2 adult tickets and one child ticket with 1 park day and 3 plus options each, and 1 child ticket with 2 park days and 2 plus options. If Disney gives me a percentage value of the price I paid, I figure it will be no more than $90 on the adult tickets, however, if they give me retail value - it could be around $160 on those adult tickets - big difference!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Last I was told is that effective in 2006 pre-2005 park hopper plus tickets may not be traded towards new Magic Your Way tickets (although they may of course still be used as-is).

You would have received a pro-rated value roughly based on what you paid for the ticket, more exactly based on how much the ticket seller or travel agent paid Disney (wholesale) for the ticket. I am not sure of the exact formula. You would also have been required to purchase every attribute for the new ticket that you actually utilized off of the old ticket, including non-expiration if the old ticket was used more than 14 days ago.

Best usage is during some vacation when you are not starting the use of new Magic Your Way tickets, or during some vacation of 3 or fewer days not counting days in water parks only. You may find it cost effective to buy tickets for this vacation (particularly if 7 or fewer days) longer than necessary and with non-expiration, leaving more days to combine with the leftovers you have now for use next time.

Plusses may be used up during any vacation. Plusses were not accounted for and not carried forward during trade ups.

Thanks for the info. - that was exactly what I was looking for.

I didn't think they would be "worth" much on trade-in, but I read somewhere that Disney would give you retail value - and I wasn't sure which retail value that would be.

Just an FYI - I did talk to someone at OKW and then someone on an information line (using the old 1-800 number that was printed on the park hopper receipt) and they said I could upgrade the old hopper. Of course, maybe the policy has changed and they don't know....

thanks again!

You did get retail value for trade-up of a 2005 ticket towards another 2005 ticket.

It is unknown how trading up a 2005 ticket towards a 2006 ticket would cost.
