Help! Paint spilled on carpet!

We hired a painter who accidently spilled oil-based paint on our carpet (a paint can fell from the counter and it opened upon impact). Do you have any suggestions as to what may help get it out? I am so bummed this happened I'm hoping that maybe a carpet cleaning company can get it out.

I would call a company like Serv Pro, the kind of company that does insurance claim type cleaning. They can get anything out. I would not call a regular carpet cleaning company. They won't have a clue. Years ago, one of our DSs spilled model paint on my white carpet. Serv Pro got it out.

Greased Lightning works well - I would try it in a spot first that doesn't show and make sure it doesn't affect the color of your carpet.

The painter should have insurance to cover these types of accidents. If the stains don't come out the painter should have their insurance company pay for a new carpet.

When my dog got oiled based ORANGE paint on my brand new berber, I tried everything (unsuccessfully) and then called a local carpet cleaning company. They came first thing the next morning and got 98% of it. There is a faint orange tint left behind but they did amazing considering.

I'd hire the pros if it happened again, esp since some products you use may hurt your changes of getting it out.

AND your painting company should foot the bill, without question.
