OK all, still a little early but do not want to rush at the end - driving down to Orlando with the people mover ahead of the family coming down by air

What should I ensure is in the van (trip is in mid-Jan)

thanks!

:sunny: FL soon!

Is it just you in the van?

For the ride: If there kids with you, Video/DVD/Playstation
Maps, SUNGLASSes, Gravel, Pillows

For the parks:
Bottled water, enough for everyone at WDW, and lots of snacks.

just a start......

Just me driving down - DW, kids and MIL flying into MCO where I will pick them up after 4-5 days alone in the parks

Are you planning on bringing down all of the luggage that will be available when you leave. That would be a huge help right there.

Are they flying back or going back with you?

A blanket or sleeping bag and candles. I always put these things in the car for driving over the winter, just in case you get stuck somewhere. I'd also pack snacks, water, pop etc., stuff that you don't have to then buy in the parks. We always drive and save a lot of money by doing this.

I'd also pack "Along the I75" by Dave Hunter. It's an invaluable book for the drive.

Change for the toll roads ... Water ...

This one is really minor but I would recommend bringing some tapes/CDs ... Some of the radio stations can get kindy funky in the rural areas ;)

The most important things for travelling down in the winter is some kind of emergency vehicle kit.

Things that I have are:
+ personal stuff - winter clothes, boots, hats, gloves
+ survival stuff - water, tea or coffee packs, dry soup mixes, chocolate bars, candles, sterno cans for heating water, blanket
+ vehicle stuff - winter windshield fluid, gas line anti-freeze, shovel, flares, booster cables, tow strap, tools, spare keys, spare multi belt or fan belt, snow tires.

We have travelled many times in the winter and have found all kinds of driving conditions.

Have fun,
but remember if the weather closes in don't try to push.::yes::

Those have been very good answers. I know I had some family members who were driving down and ended up stuck in a snowstorm jam for quite a long time. I would also bring ziplock bags.

Good suggestions so far thanks!

Yes, I am the luggage carrier - lugging the luggage down for the kids, DW and MIL and then I fly back home and then fly back again in late Feb to drive the van back and they get to fly back!

This is a special treat for DW is off on her mat leave year with DS#2

thanks
