help on sending a text to a Nextel subscriber

Hey guys - I'm hoping someone on here can help me. I need to get in touch with my brother and he's not answering the phone - our parents are in Orlando (the same as him!) and both have cancer and I want to know if he's going to see them. I'm assuming it's a great big NO since he's not answering my calls but I'm not going to give up on him.

He has nextel and told me he can receive texts. I have AT&T. Is there a way I can tell if my text went through? Does he have to be subscribed to a plan to get a text message?

No you won't be able to know if they get your text. If it's a newer phone than it's text enabled- just about everyone has a text service atttached to their plans.

I'm sorry to hear about your parents to you and them.

Thanks. Siblings...ugh!! I'm so mad at him. I'm 1000 miles away and have to fly down to drive my dad to his surgery b/c my mom's in the hospital and he's 20 miles away and doesn't even call. I REALLY want to scream at him and turn back into a 14 year old when I talk to him but I'll keep the end goal in mind...make my parents feel some love from their son through a phone call or visit or better yet both.
