Hello.......... this is a good forum very helpful and seems very friendly

anyway.... this august two adults and two teens aged 15 are planing to go florida for two weeks.

I went to travel select as a family friend works there and he quoted us £3500 for us all to go on the day we wanted with insurance and accomadation.

Is this a good price?

Also the accomadations offered were any summerfield suite resorts and enclave suites!

does anyone know any thing about these places? and if so what are they like? should they be avoided?

Also is that price to expensive? resonable?

i would appreciate any help thank you!:)

Hi Nina, and welcome.

I'm not an expert on prices etc, but all I can do is tell how much we paid.

We are going on 15th August, 2 adults and 2 kids (8 & 6). We are flying direct into Sanford from Manchester, and staying in an executive (well that's what they tell me) villa at Clear Creek, with a car and all the insurances thrown in.

We paid £3257 from Travel City. I'm sure that is not the best deal in the world, but in the school holidays, I think you have to take what you can sometimes;)

If you go off peak, and are flexible I think you can get some great deals with a DIY approach.

I'd give Travel City a call for a comparison quote even if you end up booking with your friend.

Cheers
Craig

Oh yes, and happy planning!!!

Agree that it is worth calling Travel City Direct - we used them May last year - 4 adults, 1 teenager in a 3 bed exec villa, with upgrade to mini-van and all ins for £3052. For a package I've always found them to be cheaper than alternatives.

We used travel city twice and they were good. I cant remember how much but we stayed the ramada on international drive and when we check in they cound'nt belive that we got the hotel at the price we did!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

2000 all star movies
2001 ramada (inter drive)
2002 fairfield inn (inter drive)
2003 holiday inn (universal)

Nina, welcome!

Although you can't get away from high season prices I'd agree that getting some alternative quotes for comparison is a good idea.

another vote, for getting another price, this seems expensive to me.

I had a quick look at expedia for you. I put in 4 adults (15 counts as adult there :)) with accommodation, flights (United came up) and a car for 4th - 18th August as a guide and there's lots under £3,500 including one, two and three bedroom condos.

www.expedia.com

So, looks like you might be able to do it a bit cheaper with someone. Don't forget the park tickets can really bump up the price of the holiday.

Make sure you get SimonV's book as well - invaluable!

Hi Nina
If you are going with 2 teenagers I would recommend a villa. We had one christmas 2001 with two younger teenagers and it was a god send to have the space.

Good luck in your search.

BTW a condo is a type of vacation apartment, I spent years wondering what they were! LOL

Hi Nina

The price you quoted sounds good, but I would DEFINATELY:

a. Get a quote from Travel City

and

b. BOOK A VILLA!

We have stayed at Orange Lakes resort, in a two bedroom "condo style" apartment...it was very cramped and in room facilites were limited. We have had a villa since and its FAB..your teens will have their own space, you can make your own meals / snacks / drinks and you will have your own pool. There will also be at least 2 bathrooms, which with teenagers, has to be a must!!!

I just booked for June (with Travel City) and paid £2300 for 3 adults, 1 child and my baby, BA flights, Executive villa w/pool, all car taxes and this is for 15 nights. Cheaper than last year in fact!!

Make sure the price you got includes your car taxes/insurance otherwise you will be looking at around another £350 on top. Your attraction tickets will be around £180 each for Disney hoppers and £100ish for flex tickets, so thats another consideration.

Good luck and happy booking!!

Hi Nina,

You definitely must get alternative quotes as well as the one you have. This will confirm/deny for you how competitive your original quote was.It can sometimes be a mistake to go to a friend/relation when they work in a travel agents as you feel obliged to book with them and it's harder to ask them to match other quotes etc. (I'm speaking from experience!)

Another company you really should try is Bon Voyage travel their website is www.bon-voyage.co.uk I and several other DISers have booked with them.

You can also look into booking the parts separately the flights and then a villa directly from the owner. The villa prices are generally better you get better service from the owner and you don't need to go anywhere to collect the keys first as your owner will give you directions straight to their home as well as lots of other info as well.Dom a asearch for florida villas or something like and see the choi e you will get but try to get direct from owners sites.
