Help!! Okw Contract Pending

I AM PURCHASING A RE-SALE THRU LEE REID/REID RESORT REALTY AND CLOSING THRU VOIGT & VOIGT, ATTY. HAS ANYONE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THESE PEOPLE? IF SO, PLEASE REPLY !

THE OWNERSHIP INTERESTS IS FOR UNIT 54. WHAT TYPE OF VIEW WILL WE HAVE FROM THIS UNIT? WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES ABOUT THIS UNIT AND ITS AREA OF OKW?

WE ARE SCHEDULED TO CLOSE ON OR BEFORE MAY 13TH. WE WANT VACATION AT OKW FOR THE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING THIS YEAR. BY CLOSING ON THIS DVC IN MID-MAY, WILL WE HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING A RESERVATION FOR THAT TIME? ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATIVE!!! WE ARE A FAMILY OF FOUR (TWINS, BOY & GIRL WILL ALMOST BE 4YRS). THIS WILL BE OUR FIRST FAMILY TRIP TO WDW.

I don't know anything about the company that you are buying through. Maybe someone else on the board have heard of them. When you buy into DVC they do declare that you own in a certain building or unit but you will not likely stay there. When you call to make reservations they just check for any availablity. The room and building is actually assigned a few days before you arrive. Getting reservations for Thanksgiving only 6 months out can be difficult. You may have to go on a waitling list. A lot of it may depend on what type of room you want. We went during Thanksgiving 2 years ago. When we made reservations at 9 months out for OKW we still had to waitlist 2 of the days, but they did become avaiable a few months before the trip. You might try reading all of the info provided here on the board to get a good grasp on how DVC works. There is an information page that gives you the basic facts about DVC. Once you've done that be sure to ask questions here about things that you don't understand. This board is great for clarifying the details. By the way you will love OKW. Hope all goes well for you!

We just sent back our final closing papers and check to Voigt and Voigt! Our closing date is May 15th. We are already DVC members at VWL and purchased a resale from VWL. On the deed it does show a certain "unit", but it is just for legal purposes. The chances are everytime you go home to OKW, you will probably be in a different unit each time. You can make requests for views and location or even a specific room, but requests are not guaranteed.

We did our original purchase and an add on through Disney and now this resale through Lee Reid. It has been fairly easy, just the purchase papers and now the closing papers. I did have a few questions on how much was owed on dues, and was not able to get a satisfactory answer. I wanted to know how Disney came up with the amount that was owed. Disney of course could not answer and the closing company had no clue. The dues ended up being about half way between the highest figure and the lowest figure we came up with. Close enough for us, it was the perfect resale we were looking for.

The only other item I had questions on was on the contract it stated that no one could be held responsible for unbanked points. That made me a little uneasy because one of the stipulations we made when we counter offered on the contract was to have as many points as were elible banked. We would not be able to use the points before they expire in Sept. I could rent them out or something, so again it is not a make or break item of the contract.

Unit 54 is located in South Point. Unit has a golf course view. Unit is across the street from the south point pool area, and the south point bus stop is very close.

That said, with DVC, you aren't locked into a certain unit. You specify what type of room you'd like - studio, one, two, three bedroom and the room controller takes it from there. You do have the option of requesting a certain location, or building etc., but nothing is guaranteed. I believe this site has a site map for OKW..check it out.

Thanksgiving - This may be tough to accomplish for this year, as it is a very popular week. However, as soon as you close give MS a call and check it out. OKW tends to have more availability than the other resorts because of the size of the resort.
