Planning a trip to the "Happiest Place on Earth" next May. Husband was ok with it until I actually got to the point of making reservations. Now he is like " i can't get out of work in May, it is too busy," and "we were just there" which we weren't, we haven't been since May of 2003, which by the way, he had to problem getting out of work for that year. He is a land surveyor so he is busy all spring, summer and fall, with winter being his slow season. But I dont' want to go to Florida in the winter, it isn't warm enough for me.

So I am considering taking the the kids, DS 8, and DD 12 by myself. We live in NY and I know it is quite the distance to go but I am confident that I can handle it, I am a 35 yr old !!

My only concerns are:

1) will my kids argue over who will ride with who for the rides since there will be an odd number of us

2) i will hear some slack from my parents, they will be against it for fear of something happening to us.

Anyone else do this as a parent alone and how did it go for you ?

Any input would be greatly appreciated !!! :flower:

Probably. :teeth: I'd set up a system ahead of time, like, on day 1 you ride with DD, on day 2 you ride with DS, etc.

Ask him if he'll go in April?? I would go with two kids. Maybe you could get a friend to go with you and make it four. As for your parents, something could happen to you at home to. Might as well be having fun when it does!

I am a single mom and I take my 2 girls now 5 & 8 by myself every year. My ex-husband only went with me twice in all the times I went (only one included the girls) Anyway I have more fun. The kids think I am cool mom because I come up with the strangest things to do and noone telling you that you're acting like a child etc. ENJOY take advantage of the bonding time. They will have to understand they will have to take turns. Tell them if they can't do that you don't go.

p.s. I was married on October 5th, 1991 pyrxtc we share the same anniversary !!

I am worried about April with springbreaks and all..........

Thanks for your input :earboy2: :earsgirl:

My husband just started a new position at work and says he might not be able to go with us (kids are 8 and 9) in Nov...............trip is all paid for.........didnt get trip insurance for the first time! And if by chance he can`t make it, O WELL..............we are still going! I know it will be more work for me, I will try and find a friend who can take his place and help me out, but I really think he`s gonna be able to make it. Who is gonna pass up a week in disney vs. working? LOL

I can do one better than you :-) Over Labor Day weekend I took my 4 kids to WDW BY MYSELF! Ages 10, 9, 6 and 2.....Was it difficult? No...was it different? yes Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. THe kids knew ahead of time that it would be different since I was the only grown up going. We were just so glad to have a few days away from everything, that it didnt matter to us!
