Help- no room ready message

Checked in last Sunday at AKV and never got a text. Happened to check my email while on DME and had an email with my room number instead, even thought I set up online check-in with my phone number. We were able to go straight to the room but one we got there, only one of our MBs worked to open the door. So we had to stop by the front desk anyway to get that fixed.

Shoot, I am still waiting for a room ready text from 2010 and 2012 after checking in at the resort! Of course, online check in wasn't available then :) I sure hope things are working better now with online check in and magic bands!

I think OP is referring to streamlined check-in, which was implemented within the last year. They text you your room number whenever it's ready, possibly before you even arrive on property, and you can go straight to your room without stopping by the front desk. Prior to this being implemented, you always had to go to the front desk to check-in and they would only text you your room number later if it wasn't ready at that point.

I got a text 15 minutes before the check in time I put during online check in that my room was ready at ASMo when I stayed last month. My MB worked to open up the door but I found the room hadn't been cleaned completely. Thankfully the Mousekeeper was working in the room next door & quickly finished while I freshened up & got ready to leave for the parks. There were only a few things that needed to be thrown out, nothing that hadn't actually been left dirty so I didn't mind.

I booked the room through an AP discount & called the front desk after I arrived & before I checked out to confirm they didn't need me to show my AP in person & was told no & kept the discount so it all worked out pretty well for me.

Well, I have to show an ID at the desk when I get there, so I'm just going to assume I won't be able to check in in advance...

Maybe, maybe not. For the room I was in a couple weeks ago, I used either FLR or AP--don't remember which. I selected a very late check in time of 10:00p and still got a room ready text mid afternoon. Never needed to go to the front desk to show either my FL ID or AP ID.

Just to follow up- we arrived at magic express area at approx 12:10- we ended up not getting to room until almost 2 am! We spent 40 minutes with the bus running at the airport waiting to fill the bus (good for AC, not good for environment), then we were the fourth bus stop. At check in- there was no one working the on-line check in (which if course was the area I went to stand in). Other from magic express bus went to regular check in line and were services before I was. I spoke up and someone got us our room. They never mentioned our grey bands as we already had our on from a previous trip. After a bumpy (as in no beverage service due to terbulance) flight and then the long trip to finally get a room- I'm happy to say we had a great day today.

Thanks for that... I'll try it.

Do you really mean you didn't get a room until 2 AM????

After one flight with no beverage service, I now always bring something on board. Either I fill an empty water bottle with yucky airport water (sometime our flights are really early), buy a bottle of juice with a screwcap or buy a cup of juice and pour it into the water bottle.

This will be our first trip with the streamline checkin. I'm hoping I'm one of those people who get a text waaayyy early.

It seemed awful silly before , you did online checkin and then had to wait 20-30 just to get to the counter.

From the time we got to the magic express to the time we received our room- it was then two am. Total of a two hour process. Two issues were waiting for a full buss to leave from airport (not so many flights landing at 11:30 pm I guess)- and then the on-line check in area was not manned when we finally got to hotel. If you are arriving during more normal business hours- I think your trip will be smoother.

Last year we used On-Line check in and we arrived in WDW and went straight to Epcot. We received our text saying the room was ready and when we saw where the room was i texted back saying it was the the room or building we requested. They took care of it for us and we received another text with the room change to the correct building.

I would have thought you have gotten a text hrs before. I would have been upset having to wait at that time of night.

Our flight in just a little more than 2 weeks lands at 12:02am :faint: (AA originally scheduled to land at 11:35 and has gotten moved around since the merger with US Airways :().

May I ask what time you showed your arrival time for at your resort? And which resort you were staying at?

I had hoped to be at our resort (POP) around 1:30am but I never figured in having to wait for the bus to fill up so if we don't even land until midnight, I probably need to be more realistic-

  • Land 12:02am
  • Pick up luggage and get to ME 12:30-12:45am
  • Wait for ME to fill 12:45-1:15am
  • Arrive at POP 2am-2:30am (depending on how many other resort drop offs there are)

Does that sound about right?

:thanks: in advance!

I have had four stays since the new system was put in place. Two times, I got the email that the room was ready, about two hours before the check in time I indicated. Two times I didn't. The two times I didn't, one was due to a computer outage at the resort and they were having to manually do check in for everyone (they had to issue key cards because the MB wouldn't work until the system was restored). The other time it didn't there was an issue linking my MB so it would open the door (they never did get it to link properly - we just used the other bands to open the door). The two times I got the email, there were no issues with the MB working properly.

When we got off the plane, I checked my phone and had 2 texts that our room WASN'T ready. When we got to the resort, I was told the same thing. About an hour later I had a text that we needed to go to the front desk. They gave us our room number.

Wait....so in theory if we get the text saying our room is ready, we dont even need to go to the front desk? We can head right passed the lobby to our room (im assuming the text tells you what room your in)?

In the 5 times we have done disneyworld, Ive done online checkin for all but the first two times and we still had to go to the front desk...That no longer needed now?

Correct. Direct-to-room check-in was implemented in the past year. You'll get a text or, as in my case, an email with your room number/location. We got off DME and found our way to the room, and went right in with our MBs. We never would have needed to stop by the front desk, except that one of our MBs didn't work to open the room so we had to get that fixed.

It was nice to head straight to the room, but I will say that we went the long way trying to find our room. We also didn't know where anything was at the resort, so we missed getting the map and directions at check-in. We also noted on our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, and had we not stopped at the front desk to fix our MBs and actually ask for the anniversary button, it wouldn't have ever been acknowledged.

I am hoping for a text saying our room is ready when we land Tuesday. We are landing early (10:20 AM), so I know there is a good chance it will be several hours before we get a room, but I'll keep my fingers crossed anyway. Last year I did online check in and when the DME bus pulled up at the Poly, there was a CM with an iPad who knew who greeted us by name as we got off the bus and checked us in out in front of the building.

I'm wondering if there's a problem at AKV with room ready texts. I did a split stay last week between AKV-Jambo and BCV, asking for room ready texts at both. AKV-Nada! When I got off the DME bus, CM sent me to the front desk, even though she said my room was ready. But at BCV, I did get room ready text. First text, around 1:30, said my room wasn't quite ready yet. About an hour later I got another text with my room #.
