I seem to have no motivation. I want to lose weight. I know that takes exercise and I know that I need to do at least 3 times a week, but I cannot seem to bring myself to do it. I dont mind exercising once I start and I am always proud of myself when I am done. But whenever I plan to go, I always think of a million excuses. I watch what I eat so I know that I can follow through on things, but just not exercise. So I would love personal advice or things that help you stay motivated. TIA!

I feel your pain! :rotfl:
My dbf and I went through a rough weight spell...we're still struggling to get fit! He and I found that our best motivational techniques were the little things. His favorite was to watch one of the workout montages from any Rocky movie before heading out to the gym, which is fun and became a little routine while we stretch. It's also much easier and fun to excersize with a group (or just someone else) instead of alone... Another thing is if you have someone fit that you look up to, print out or clip some pictures of them, and keep then in a little binder or photo book to look at when you just can't seem to pull yourself off the couch...It might be an unrealistic goal, but it helps gets me into the mood to work hard. :)

They aren't professional tips, but I'm a major procrastinator, so if they help me, they might help you!

I have been faithfully exercising and eating within calories for 2 months. Recently I have lost motivation. I am still exercising but have found that if I don't do it first thing it is very difficult to motivate myself to do it later. On Saturday and Sunday I am up by 6:30am to get in my 4mile walk, then I have the entire day to work on my todo list.

Don't think about the 3 days a week for exercising. Start small and build up, you will stick with it longer. Can you do just one day a week? Make sure you pick a time of day that will work best for you.

you have gotten some great advice -- not sure i have anything else to offer!!

definately for me having a workout partner helps alot! if i know that person is at the gym i don't want to let her down by not showing up. I have a neighbor who I do Saturday long walks with and I know she has drug herself out of bed than i feel like i can too, and i can't leave her on her porch waiting for me! it's too early to call and wake the family up....

also -- it takes about 3 weeks to form a habit. Find three weeks from today and circle that on your calendar -- commit to work out 3 times a week during those three weeks. Put a BIG RED "X" on the days you do. reward yourself with something, doesn't have to be major, when you finish out your three weeks. maybe you'll find a new habit has formed?

i see you are in the May challenge -- that is a great way too! remember your friends working out to meet their goals -- it will feel GREAT to do so with them!

i have found i do much better working out first thing in the morning, otherwise i piddle my day away
