I was just on another thread here and read that Whispering Canyon doesn't have chicken nuggets or strips anymore.

Has anyone been there this past week or two? Can anyone confirm this????

:scared1: :scared:  :sad1: :worried: :(

Finding restaurants for my family is a major issue because my older son is one of the most finicky eaters you'll meet. Chicken nuggets and strips are the only meat he will eat. Yes, that means he won't eat fried or baked chicken, grilled chicken, etc.

I booked Whispering Canyon BECAUSE it was a place that served food the rest of us could enjoy while offering chicken strips for DS.

I really need feedback on this one! I've learned that calling Disney Dining is about as effective as standing out in the back yard and hollering. They have never once been able to answer a menu question. Seems odd, but it has happened 3 times in 2 trips, so I guess this isn't info they're expected to have.

If the news about a change is true, I'd better scramble for another ADR!!!!

According to Allearsnet, it is true. WCC only serves grilled chicken strips.

However, the menu for Roaring Forks, WCC's counter service that is pretty close, does have chicken nuggets. I bet you could get take out and bring it into WCC with you.

Who knows? The servers might have a fun time with your picky eater.

HTH,
Diana

PS I feel for you. I have one who won't eat noodles, one who won't eat rice. One eats only chicken strips or nuggets, the other only on the bone. That's why we eat at a lot of buffets!

But much appreciated!!!! Also, thanks for the kind words! I know there are some think parents cause finicky eaters, but if so, I somehow got fixed between the first and second child. My second one will eat pretty much anything. Sometimes I have to remind him that he likes it, lol, (even if he's never tried it before!) but then he digs in.

The older one is gettting better about non-meat issues, which makes my life easier. He has major sensory issues, though, so it isn't worth the fight over meat.

OMG when I saw your plea I understood your anxiety immediately- if you check out my Dining review when you get a chance you will most likely relate!

we ate a WCC and this is when my son was inducted in the meal exchange/return program ( doesnt really exist - but I can be the charter member- and you can be member #2- we exchanged several childrens meals on my last trip- with no problems- CM's were most accomodating!)) click on the link at the bottom of this reply to read and enjoy- fyi- my DS is 8 and the most annoying fussy eater- it was seriously frustrating on this trip as I found most kids menus had nothing that he really liked- hmmm go figure!

quick summary- WCC does not have chicken nuggets- I think the prior suggestion of getting the nuggets at the nearby CS is the perfect idea- even if he eats them before you dine- ( not sure how old your ds is) but the WCC is pretty entertaining- and they have fun desserts that should keep him happy while you dine- or im sure they would let you bring them in- Disney Rocks- we had ADR's for nine dragons and DS had been there before and distintcly remembered them not having anything he liked- so let hiim get chicken nuggets at the nearby USA- in Epcot- gotta love american chow! and then he was happy and full while we ate our dinner- only problem was that he didnt like any of the desserts at nine dragons either- oh well cant win em all! but at least I knew he was not hungry....and that makes for a hppy child!

Well, I have 3 kids ranging from 9 to 25 y/o. The first two ate anything. They didn't even need to be coaxed into it. They were great eaters! The third kid eats like 3 things in the world. Seriously. She is the only child I know that will not eat pasta, pizza, chicken anything, or most any other meat for that matter. She will eat the occasional cheeseburger from McDs but that is it. She lives on pb&j, bagels, lots of fruit, mac n cheese. She will eat a hot dog if we go out to a restaurant but not from home. I have better things to do then to force my child into eating something they don't want. My husband wouldn't try spinach if I promised him a golf date with Tiger Woods. There are much bigger things to fight over besides food.

Just curious. Why the popcorn smiley? Are you anxious for someone to start trouble for someone asking a simple question? :confused3

Not at all... is that what the popcorn smiley means? It was a bump without writing bump... I wanted to know the answer too... I cannot stand ANYONE causing trouble and would never be anxious to see that... I will not use the popcorn smiley again.

LOL! Sorry! I have only seen it when someone asks a question that can turn into something ugly. It is like they grab their popcorn and sit back and see what action comes of it. LOL!

I'm not sure about now, but we went last Sept and I was concerned about the changes to the kids menus becaues my kids like chicken tenders. My two older boys were on the adult dining plan and we didn't see chicken tenders on the menu so they got the baked chicken and a hamburger. They did ok eating their meal. I have no idea what the 4 year old ate, but he had something.

On our way out after we finished eating , we noticed them clearing up another table and whoever had eaten there had chicken tenders. I know tenders weren't on the menu and I didn't even think about asking just to see if they had them.

Again, this was last Sept so I don't know if they did away with them for good, or if they have some on hand for people who ask for them.

The last time we went to WDW my oldest boy lived on Chicken Strips. He was disapponted that they didn't have them avalable for breakfast. This year I have to pay adult price for him so I hope that he eats more than just chicken strips.:rotfl2:

we are so in the same boat, DS 11 will do fine @ CS (he eats a lot!) but he's so picky TS will be a bit more difficult.
