Hi! I'm very excited to be planning my first Disney trip with my kids (aged 4 and 2). We are going with my sis and her dh and ds (3) and our parents. We have chosen SSR in order to have a kitchen and a little extra space, but I haven't heard the best things about this resort (long bus line, too sprawling, etc.) For our group do you think this is a good place to stay?? Should we switch somewhere else? Is it hard to switch if we decide to? I really appreciate any and all advice.

thanks!
Karen

It all depends on what you plan to do on your trip. I have a friend that is a DVC member and love SSR. However, at times she wishes that it wasn't so large. Getting to and from the pool with 2 small children can be a challenge. They usually go in the off season time, so I can't say anything about long bus lines.

Hi and :welcome:
We are DVCers who own at BWV but we are staying this November at SSR and we cannot wait. Although there seem to be mixed feelings about SSR, I always wonder if its the non DVCers who feel unhappy with their stay there. There would be better info on the DVC boards about this resort. My family (DH, me, DS6 and DD2) is spoiled by the DVC resorts with the extra room and kitchen area. SSR table service restaurant is supposed to open this weekend(July 1st) so that will satisfy one of the big complaints that people had. As for bus stop wait times, they may be longer than other resorts but planning ahead and leaving extra time to get to your destination may help. The kids should love the pool(its zero entry). In addition to the main theme pool there are also smaller "quiet" pools in each section of buildings.
After a long day in the parks, its nice to come home to a "home" rather than a room especially with the little ones! I hope you enjoy stay!

Welcome to the DIS!!! Are you a DVC member or renting points?

Hi again-

Thanks for all the nice welcomes - this place rocks! I am learning so many tricks, maybe I won't look like a Disney virgin when I go in November! :woohoo:

But, being that I am a newbie, I don't really know what renting points means. I am not a DVCer, I guess that means I'm renting??

We are planning three days at parks and two days at the resort, the kids are young and we want to enjoy the pool/resort since we are shelling out two arms and two legs...

Thaks again for all your input!!

Karen
