hi all
my dd was chatting on how she would love to do the california disney! could you tell me how long i would need there? i have been dlp and i would say you want about 3 days at a time, also done wdw went 3 weeks the first time and 10 days the second but..............i dont think you can put a time scale on wdw as there is so much to do there other than disney..
any help i will be gratefull.....

If you are only doing DL and CA plan at least three to four days. We were there in April for 4 days and will be there 5 in January.

We did 3 day park hopper passes this last time and wish we had had another day.. next time we are going to do 4day park hopper passes.
There are many other things to do in the area.. just depends what you feel like
From SanDiego Zoo and Seaworld
To the Beach and aquariums
to Knotts Berry Farm
and Universal Studios.
Also Medival Times dinner and Pirates Dinner are pretty fun.
check the links at the top of this forum for more ideas ;).

4 days would be great if you've never been, you could even go 5 if you want more down time. We go about once a year and are still able to do 3-4 solid park days. Have fun!

1 day is good enought for DL.

1 full day. it's fun roaming around endlessly!

rest a bit. eat a bit. after the fireworks then that's the time to retire.

For people such as youself (and me - out of town Brits ;)) I would say you need a minimum of 3 days. I would personally go for 5 though. We did 5 in 2004 and wanted more (maybe that was just greed though? :rotfl: :)) so I'd definitely say go for the maximum amount of days on a park hopper. Although we love it so much we're probably going to end up getting an AP for next summer. May seem like a waste (for the 11 months we won't be able to us it) but it'll be worth it because we can have say the morning at Universal (getting an AP for Universal too - for the price you may as well) and do some rides (because the queues were CRAZY summer 2004) then go to Dl for Fantasmic! or the fireworks etc. in the evening.

But you'd definitely want to do more than just Disney if you were going to go to California. Maybe it's just me being a movie nut but I absolutely love doing all the studio tours and several days of L.A. sightseeing. And then SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Knotts, Six Flags... there's a lot to do.

It's VERY different from Orlando but in many ways a lot better. You can't compare them at all. I'd say the bare minimum you'd want to go for is 10 days. To get a feel for everything. And there'd still be LOADS that you didn't even see.

The first time we went, we had no idea what to expect and we bought a 3 day pass from Virgin and it was enough as we wanted to see everything else like Seaworld, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal and Hollywood, but we found we spent the whole holiday on a coach being driven up and down the freeway.
Last year we went for 28 days and in this time we travelled to Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and Las Vegas (5 day trip not seperate day trips), we did lots of shopping, went to Universal and Knotts,Huntigton Beach, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica and we still had things to see that we didnt have time to do.
This year we are going for 18 days but taking a few days out to do Grand Canyon and Vegas again and we will go to Universal and Knotts and lots of shopping and maybe a beach.
Our first time we bought the 3 day pass from Virgin and it was just as cheap to buy a deluxe annual pass in 2004 and we could go to the park whenever we wanted, mostly we went in the evenings. This year we might get the deluxe AP again as they are not that expensive in comparison to a 5 or 6 day ticket and it means we dont have to spend the whole day there or else we have wasted a day.
Last year we went to Orlando and didn't like it as we found the transport was not very good compared to Anaheim and we just spent too much time travelling on the buses and when we booked, we were not told that it was the rainy season and we had rain every single day!!! We also got caught in Hurricane Dennis when we went to Clearwater for the day.We won't go back there again, though have to say that we did enjoy Discovery Cove, that was the highlight of our holiday.
Love Ella
