Help Needed - Splitting a SW Reservation

I have read sbout people being able to split a round trip reservation on Southwest into 2 one ways. How are you able to do this? We are currently flying from Hartford into Orlando but want to switch our flight down to Tampa. My husband's reservation was booked as a roundtrip, while everyone else is done as 2 one ways. I did this to make it easier to use TTF we had. I thought that I would be able to change just the flight going down on the website but when I try it says that both departure and arrival airports must be the same. So I called Southwest to ask about this and the CSR I spoke with said the only option I had would be to cancel and rebook the reservation as 2 one ways but our flight home is much more expensive right now. He told me I could not split the reservation. So, who has been able to split a reservation and what were the circumstances? Thank you!

I have never been able to split a reservation and this is why I book one-ways only.

I was told as you were to cancel the whole flight and start over. THE CSR told me that SW doesn't have the capability to split, she said I could write a letter to allow the system to do this.

If you weren't changing the flight going down, I know how to help you. Sorry I couldn't help but I don't think you can change it.

Never have been able to split...I had to change a RT one time and luckily the prices were the same. had to cancel and rebook the entire thing...from then on I book one way all the time.
