My sister just called - they had to cancel their flights. My niece became sick to her stomach on the way to the airport and never got any better - there's no way they can make it.... :( I feel so bad for them - they've waited a long time for this trip.

They are using our points to stay at the BWV... is there any way we can get them back or are we just out.....? Thanks for any help...

I would call MS and see what they say your options might be. I know what the rules say (assuming tonight was the first night of the stay)--that you lose the points, as I recall, but see if there are any options they can offer in this situation. Unfortunately, it is possible that they will say that this is what travel insurance is intended to handle. I hope you can work something out.

I am sorry your niece is sick & their trip is not going to happen. I would call Member Services & explain your situation. DVC has been known to work with members.

Thanks.... I just called Member Services.... they will put the points in holding so I'm thankful. I will have to rent them out as we will not be there until after the points would have to be used. I just feel so bad for them.... they even had tickets to Cirque tonight!

Could they get a flight tomorrow?

Once our youngest lacerated her forehead at the airport just before our plane left for a ski trip. She has seizures and just had one in the wrong place at the wrong time. There were eight of us: DW, me, 5 kids and a baby sitter. We had about 20 checked bags and 10 carryons. Just getting to the airport was a major effort. We were to meet friends in Winter Park that afternoon. Now we had a mini-disaster on our hands.

My point is that we got her stitched up, rescheduled the flight for later that day. The airline was WONDERFUL. They saw the whole thing and took great pity on us. I imagine I was pretty pitiful at the time. We made a classic run-through-the-airport connection to Denver. We didn't get to the resort until after a midnight drive through the icy mtns propping our eyes open with toothpicks. But we recovered and had a great trip.

And lived to tell the tale.

Sometimes you have to roll with the punches.

They thought about taking another flight but are worried that they may became ill, also. We had a Thanksgiving like that a few years ago... we were all together and one by one we went down... so glad we have 3 bathrooms....not a weekend we want to repeat! We do laugh about it now.

Just can't believe of all days she got sick today.... hopefully they can make another trip soon.
