I want one of the three. I have researched them but I am still lost. Which one is better for the price. Reviews and comments needed! I have until tonight to pick! :) (I know the nook is out of stock until Feb. I can wait if I have to)

i have the sony ereader and I love it, but I have the 505 and the screen of the new ereaders are quite a bit smaller, i'm really not sure why sony did that. I tried the nook @ a barnes and noble, you might try that if you have one near you, and I believe that our borders has a sony reader to try out as well. unfortunately you can't try the kindle out anywhere unless you know someone who has one.

I know! I wish I could hold the three together! I am torn between: Nook and Kindle I think. I like the wireless on those and the nook is touch screen.

My friend just got a sony ereader. It is my understanding that the kindle does not support pdf files, which limits you greatly when in comes to purchasing ebooks.

Really- Great to know! I thought PDF files were more things someone used for work, thank you!

I'm pretty sure the NEW kindles do support PDF. i could be wrong but I'd check the amazon site. personally i prefer my device not hooked up to the internet but it is definitely a personal preference.

The new Kindle supports .pdf! Not sure if that helps with choices, but just wanted to correct the information. :flower3:

I chose the Kindle. The Nook has not been getting good review and I really don't know much about the Sony ereader. My choice was between the Kindle and the Nook. Google Nook reviews and see what comes up.

I have the Sony Reader and really like it. The ergonomics are nice, it's very light and it's expandable (you can add memory cards). I understand the latest Reader with the touch-screen is even nicer. Costco has it for $199 if you're a member... best price I've seen for an electronic book reader.

I also will be interested to hear what people think. I read that Nook is the only model with an easily replaceable battery and it also has a backlit screen.

Borders has the pocket sony e reader for 199 too :) If anyone is looking for that one! The small one is not in the running lol- I am so torn! I am one of those people who just can not decide!
I found this and it looks like the kindle may be my winner.

Lol- Helps if I provide the link:

Check out www.kindleboards.com and go to the forum 'let's talk kindle'. Lots of great info there.

Well the nook as it currently stands is getting horrible reviews so I personally would wait until mid-summer or so to buy one of those, give them a chance to work out some of those bugs.

The Sony's are nice and the Sony store just recently switched over to ePub support which is a plus. Some people complain about the glare that the touch screen makes on the screen harder to read. I can't say it bothers me all that much however. To me the biggest drawback on the smaller Sony devices is the lack of wireless access to the store. You purchase the books from your computer and then load them over to the Sony via a cable.

My favorite of the 3 is still the Kindle. The eBooks at the Amazon store are almost always better priced and the thing just works. Easily. Intuitively.

I gave my Mom, who can barely work a microwave, a Kindle and she had it mostly figured out within 20 minutes.

You can't go see a Kindle the way you can the other devices but Amazon does have a 30 day return policy to try it out and return it if you don't like it. Barnes and Noble charges a 10% restocking fee on the nook, I'm not sure about Sony.

Thank you everyone! Thanks for the great kindle link too! I now need to commit and purchase that buy button! I am nervous though, it has some blanket statement on amazon saying they are jut using all the 6 in screens and selling those? What does that mean? May I end up with the older model?

Not sure about your question, but the Kindle on the home page of Amazon is the latest model (generation) of Kindle. The DX is the bigger version.

If I understand correctly, the DX (larger screen) is sold out right now. The Kindle 2 is still in stock and being sold. It's not the older model just the smaller of the 2 Kindles.

I have a Kindle and if I had to do it all over again I would of ordered it earlier. I love it. While not perfect it is the best (IMHO) and with Amazon behind it I think it will only get better. I was looking at a thread that asked who the best retailers were this Christmas and almost everyone said Amazon. I saw a Nook at my local Barnes and Noble and still think I made the best decision for me.

Enjoy whichever ereader you decide on

I went with the Nook for my wife at Christmas. Some of the features include both 3G and wi-fi connections (no wifi on Kindle), a cool touch screen for easy cover navigation, and book lending for 2 weeks to one other user. Generally, Amazon has cheaper titles (except bestsellers which are about the same). However, with market competition, I have to think B&N will eventually come down. Probably the decision point for me was the flexibility provided by the Nook. Amazon locks its users into purchasing from its site. The Nook can use B&N website but also sister sites like Fictionwise which compete closely with Amazon on price. In addition, the Nook can download ebooks from my local library at no charge (this was not a feature available for the Kindle). Again, to each their own, but these were the items that drove the decision for me.

Can you use a Kindle to check out books from the Library? From what I have been reading, only the Sony e reader will:confused3 I am probably just missing something....

Oops the message is gone today :) It said something about offering wireless on both models now due to overwhelming response, so they were just selling both? I guess there is a Kindle and Kindle 2.

I love my Kindle 2. I haven't used any of the others but I stopped checking books out from the library some time ago.

I know the Kindles don't handle library books so that might influence you.

Kindle DOES have tons of free books, though.
