We will only have 1 day at California Adventure. With the opening of Little Mermaid, I don't know what to try and attempt first- should we go for Little Mermaid at rope drop, or should we go for Toy Story Mania and take our chances with LM later? The other way around? I know neither one has a fastpass. We have never ridden Toy Story (the line was always too long at WDW). I know the girls would enjoy both rides, but I want to make the most of our time (meaning less time in line). Any experience or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Also, I know it has been posted before, but I can't find it- which rope do we line up at for WOC fastpasses? Which one for TSM? Which one for LM?

I would hit Little Mermaid first since it's brand new, everybuddy will be trying to get on it.

The Fastpass for WOC is next to the Grizzly River Rapids, so use the closest rope drop area for that.

DCA will open at 9:30 despite the offical time being 10am. At 9:30 you can go to three rope drop locations.

If you go hard right toward Soarin, at 9:30, you can ride Soarin, get Soarin FPs, WoC Show Passes. At 10 am the ropes drop. The rope in that direction if you keep going is next to LMAUA. From there you could go to LM or TSMM.

If you go strait into DCA and soft right, it will take you to the main TSMM rope drop, which will give you a slight advantage getting there.

GRR splits the path between these to rope drops. The third rope drop is into the Hollywood backlot.

As far as TSMM or LMAUA first, I'd wait and see what people are saying about the lines next week. LMAUA load fast and may have a shorter line, it may have everyone go there first and never be able to work the line down until the end of the day.

So, are you going just to DCA on your trip and that is it? Or will you have parkhoppers? One mistake people from WDW make is they plan one day for DCA and another for DL. It really is better to park hop and see both parks each day.

You could go to DL first at 8am and at least pick up a FP. You could probably take in a ride or two depending on how soon you wanted to get in line at DCA. But at the very least, I'd pick up a FP for something then come back over later to use it.

I'm still waiting to see how Mermaid affects the TSMM line. We should be getting the first reports back in the next few days.

Thanks everyone. We will be going to both parks, but we were planning on spending most of the day Thursday at CA, and most of the day Wednesday at Disneyland. I'll keep an eye out for what people are saying about LM and TSMM this week before deciding what to do. Should we be able to get FP's for WOC, ride soarin' at 9:30 and be done in time for rope drop at 10:00? And last, I know that not everyone has to be present for FP's- you can send one person to do this with all of the tickets. This is true for WOC as well, right? I'm thinking my family could ride Soarin' while I get FP's for WOC if necessary.

Yes, as long as everyone has entered DCA or DL already you can take their entrance tickets with you and get FPs for WOC or anything else.

When we do Soarin at rope drop we rarely are off before 10AM as it takes awhile to actually ride the ride - load, ride, exit, etc. So I doubt you can make rope drop for LMAUA and be near the front. TSMM may work for rope drop because LMAUA draws so many that way.
