Has anyone got experience of ordering a Birthday cake at WDW?

My nephew is 11 during our upcoming trip to WDW so we have booked PS for 'Ohana on his birthday. When I phoned the dining reservations to make the the PS I asked about getting the lad a birthday cake they gave me another number to call and book. The number is for the ''Ohana cake booking line" and is an answering machine where they give you prices and ask you to leave your name and number for them to call you back to order."within 24-36 hours" It also mentions credit card details being required upon booking.

I have left my name and number THREE TIMES now and still no reply!! :(

I am wondering if they won't call UK numbers but I can't leave it until we get there as the PS is for the day after our arrival.

HELP!!!!!

We ordered a birthday cake in WL last year. We did it once we'd arrived. Originally we phoned the DINE line, but I think the information they provide at check-in mentioned to phone room-service to order. So eventually we did that and ordered what was essentially like a chocolate gateaux at approx $20. They asked what time we'd like it delivered so we sorted it that we were out the room and it was a surprise to come back to. The left a tray with plates, proper linen napkins and candles with small WL themed matches. It was very nice.

Cake was very like a sweet rather than a cake that you would bake, but it tasted good.

best of luck with your birthday plans

Thanks for the advice John, unfortunately we are staying in our villa offsite so room service is not an option.

Do you think they would let us take our own cake in to 'Ohana for the waiter to bring out???

If they do let you take your own Goodings do some stunning birthday cakes, Friends got one for their sons 1st birthday.
Not cheap but fantastic.

If they let you take your own cake then I'd buy one offsite - I bet you'll save a buck or two. We bought my Dad a cake at the 24hr Walmart - you can order extra special personalized ones in advance and it was brilliant - although we didn't take it to the Garden Grill with us - good job as we never got to eat there despite PS's (have previously posted about this) so we had a party at the villa and sat around the pool celebrating his 65th. I will just add that when we complained about the Garden Grill we were given a HUGE discount that we could use at any WDW restaurant so we booked the Crystal Palace for my sons 8th birthday during the same holiday - and bought another Walmart cake.

We bought an extra birthday cake for my daughters 10th from Wal-Mart - just for us to eat in the hotel room.
They are just completly yum !!!!

I'm going back a few years now, but we were staying at Dixi landings now Port Orleans Riverside (I think). It was my daughters birthday whilst we were there. I went to reception and asked about ordering a birthday cake for her. They took all the details, age, name, favourite Disney character, etc.

On the day of her birthday we returned to our room after a day in the parks to find ballons, a birthday cake topped with her name and age, plates and forks to eat it with and a birthday card wishing her a happy birthday signed by Mickey and Minnie. When I returned to reception to thank them for the lovely surprise and settle the bill, they told me Mickey had said "it was on the house".

Hmmm! how things change!!!
