we are leaving for the land/sea next week and are trying to weigh pro's and cons of transfers. Travel agent swears Disney gives priority if you use their transfers and makes it easier because you do not have to check in at ship. We are staying a Poly and are not picked up until noon. We are only paying 207. for the 3 of us and are quoted much more by towncars.

Am so confused after reading boards, HELP!

I did DCL transfers and never again --

The big negative is that you arrive too late and will be locked out of everything that requires reservations.

Yes, you don't have to wait in the line at the terminal, but by the time DCL transport gets you to the terminal, there isn't much of a line because everyone else is already on the ship.

I don't understand the phrase 'Disney gives you priority' because our opinion was that we were at the bottom of the list taking DCL transfers.

DCL transfers are a mistake I would not make again.

$207 for round trip seems high for DCL transfers. I thought it was only $49 per person round trip. I would call a couple different town car places and just price. You can get there much earlier and enjoy the terminal and then board if you use a private service. There is a service that sponsors these boards, there is also Happy Limo, which if you go to castawayclub.com I think they have some sort of coupon to print out over there that will give you even more of a discount. I am not sure of pricing for private car service, we didn't use either DCL or towncars.

Try a search on the board, this is addressed in a lot of other Threads.

this was my email from TA last year regarding transfers:

but - if you want to get yourselves back to the airport on 10JAN, you can join the Disney bus transfer to the pier in Pt. Canaveral
- round trip transfers from airport to pier and back @ $49 per person

Thanks to the posters here, we made the decision to use towncar for our first ever cruise (a few years ago). For the four of us, the cost was about the same as DCL, but not having to wait for the bus and nice ride to the port and watching movies also was big plus for us.

Coming back they were waiting there at the port, and an easy ride back to the airport.

Checkout all the websites and they have prices posted for types of cars, transport from WDW and airport, to DCL... and I donot recall anything over $150 (not including tips) for a towncar from WDW.

Disney transfers are $69/pp for the land/sea package.

We are doing our own transfers.

We leave Saturday for Land/sea package and thanks to these boards, we decided to book our own transfers. We are using Quicksilver Tours. I really want to be in control of when we get to the port...this is our first cruise and I want to get to the port early.

You more experienced cruisers can correct me here, but from what I understand, if you are doing land/sea, you only have to check in once regardless of your transportation. We are doing the land portion first so I am under the impression that I will just check in at the hotel and that's it.

Good luck and have a great time!
