Hello all,

I need help find some cheap disposable ponchos. I think I would prefer to have the disposable kind so I don't have to manage lugging a wet poncho through the parks.

I've read many posts about dollar stores selling two for a dollar. I have looked and looked at many of the 99 cent stores around and have yet to find any. I did find ponchos at Target (or maybe Walmart) for 89 cents each but its still not the two for a dollar price that I've been reading about.

I live in Southern California (San Diego) where it doesn't rain much which is probably why they are so scarce here. :sunny:

Can anybody, especially a DIS'er from SD, tell me where I can find the 2/$1 disposable ponchos. I looking to buy 12 ponchos for my upcoming Disneymoon. Even a good place to buy them online (if it is free/cheap shipping) would work.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Dollar Tree is the store where we get our ponchos 2/$1. I saw single ponchos for $.66 each at Academy Sports, so if you have a sporting goods store nearby you might check there.

I think the ponchos I have from Target were about $1 each. I bought a regular poncho for DS at Big Lots for $3 in case we ran out of the disposable ones, but we didn't need ponchos at all earlier this month so I still have plenty. Good luck!

I don't know if you have a KMart down there, but that's where I found my disposable ponchos. They were about 97 cents and I found them in the displays in the checkstand aisle. I found toddler size ones for $1 at Target in their dollar section. Our dollar stores didn't carry any at all.
Hope that helps!

I just got back from Walmart, and they are 76 cents apiece. I bought four of them, along with two of the blue sturdy ones, and they were $2.97 apiece.

In addition to Target, Kmart, and Walmart, you can get them at lots of sporting goods stores.

My Big Lots has the disposable ones for $0.48 a piece

You can find them in the camping departments at Target and Walmart for $.87 and $.97. I also found toddler sized ones at Target in the Dollar section.

 Awww! Dana you are too sweet! I don't want you to pay for them but I really am touched at the thought that you would do so. Thank you so much! :disrocks:

I do love the offer, but I think I will buy them local... probably at Walmart/Target as I can't the "El Cheapo" ones in San Diego. The way I see it, it will cost me $12+tax for twelve ponchos. For you to get it for me it cost you $6+tax for twelve ponchos, shipping (which goes from about $4-$8), your gas (don't get me started), and your time (which takes you away from disboards... and we need you here spreading sweetness). So in the end, I think its better for me to just get them here.

Again, thanks for the offer! The thought was good enough for me!

I have looked at two local big lots and haven't found any. Again, my theory is its because I am in sunny San Diego, California where it doesn't rain very much. :sunny:

I don't know if you are in the Southern California area but I noticed you like Little Mermaid so...
Moviegoers will get a chance to go "under the sea" and revisit Disney's Oscar(R)-winning animated feature, "The Little Mermaid," when the classic film makes its digital debut during a special limited engagement from September 7th - 24th at Hollywood's legendary El Capitan Theatre, it was announced today (8/24) by Lylle Breier, senior vice president of worldwide special events for Buena Vista Pictures Distribution. The engagement, which celebrates the upcoming October 3rd release of the special 2-disc Platinum Edition DVD, will spotlight an all-new digital restoration of the film with enhanced picture and sound. Plus, every show throughout the entire run will offer a live appearance by Ariel.

Opening night (September 7th) will include an informative filmmaker's panel at 6:30 pm that will be hosted by veteran Disney animation producer Don Hahn ("Beauty and the Beast," "The Lion King," "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," etc.). Also on the panel will be the film's directors John Musker & Ron Clements, Jodi Benson (the voice of Ariel), supervising animator Glen Keane, and Sherri Stoner (the live-action reference model for Ariel). As a special added attraction on opening night, guests will get a sneak preview of Disney's newest animated short, "The Little Match Girl," based on the Hans Christian Andersen story, and directed by Roger Allers ("The Lion King"). Every show throughout the entire run will offer a live appearance by Ariel. Daily showtimes are 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, 3:00 pm, 5:30 pm, and 7:45 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the El Capitan box office, on line at www.elcapitantickets.com, or by calling 1-800-DISNEY6. Group rate tickets are available for parties of 20 or more by calling 1-818-845-3110.

In addition to the activities at the theatre, Disney's Soda Fountain and Studio Store (located adjacent to the El Capitan) will be serving up a delicious ice cream treat in celebration of this special engagement called "The Dinglehopper Sundae." Dive into this mouth-watering creation that includes one scoop of blue cotton candy ice cream, and one scoop of vanilla ice cream, covered in fish shaped sprinkles, and topped with whipped cream and a sea creature. And, of course, it is served with a dinglehopper!

Commenting on the announcement, Breier said, "'The Little Mermaid' is one of the most beloved animated films of all time, and it ushered in a new golden age of musicals and fairy tales for Disney. We're thrilled to be bringing it back to the El Capitan so that a new generation of moviegoers can experience it on the big screen. Longtime fans of the film will be able to see it digitally projected and with enhanced sound for the first time. The film has never looked or sounded better and we know that audiences are going to love being part of Ariel's world once again."

On October 3, Walt Disney Home Entertainment debuts the long-awaited two-disc Special Edition "The Little Mermaid" DVD. Included in an ocean of exciting bonus features are deleted scenes, an all-new music video, a fantastic new "Making of Disney's The Little Mermaid," "The Little Mermaid Virtual Ride" which brings to life a fascinating Disney theme park ride, games, and much more for the whole family!

"The Little Mermaid" was Disney's first new fairy tale adaptation in 30 years at the time of its initial release in 1989. With its acclaimed song score by lyricist Howard Ashman and composer Alan Menken, the film set a new high water mark for contemporary film musicals and helped to launch a new era of Disney animated classics. The film went on to win two Academy Awards -- for Best Song ("Under the Sea") and Best Original Score (by Alan Menken) -- and received a third nomination for the song "Kiss the Girl."

Disney's version of the Hans Christian Andersen classic follows the animated adventures of a bubbly and fiercely independent young mermaid named Ariel, who longs to be part of the human world. Determined to meet her dream prince, she impulsively strikes a "bargain" with Ursula, a devious sea witch, to trade her voice and fins for a pair of legs and a chance to "land" her handsome Prince Eric. Going against the advice of her mighty father, King Triton, and her guardian crab, Sebastian, Ariel finds herself in deep water as she quickly discovers that silence is not so golden, and that there's something fishy about Ursula's deal.

I was in Dollar Tree today and spotted them as well. I bought them for 2/$1 and some glow sticks and glow necklaces. There is a Dollar Tree in San Diego. go to www.dollartree.com and punch in your zip code and it will show you the stores near you.

Bought 2 packages at Dollar Tree yesterday. However I still plan on bringing my regular rain jacket, it's foldable and will hold up better in the event of a rain storm.

Dollar tree & Dollar World always keep them in stock. We always get several of them when we go to WDW and tend to use them at soccer games.

Our Walmart sometimes has disposable ponchos 2 for $1 on the endcaps near the registers. Our Dollar Tree always has them 2 for $1, and small umbrellas, too. I think the OP didn't buy the 89¢ ones because she was hoping to find the 2/$1 deals we are so often talking about here! :) Oh, Family Dollar sometimes has them for 50¢ each, too.

Hope this helps!

academy has several of them and all kinds of colors and sizes. Kids, adults. i got several of them

Wow, this whole time I didn't realize there were dollar in San Diego. Good news, I went to the one in National City and I got my ponchos! :woohoo: Thanks Disneyland_Mama for tipping me off to the online store locator,

why did you not buy them for 89 cents at wallyworld or targets when you saw them?
I guess it was just the business side of me. I knew that Target and Walmart would probably always have stock at about a dollar a piece but I didn't feel right paying around a dollar for one when I have heard so many confirmed cases of 2/$1 on these boards. In the end, glad I waited. :crazy2:
