HELP!! Need to change my cruise dates

I have reserved a cruise through dreams unlimited for 16 July 2006. However my DH would like to catch his family reunion in June. How hard is it to change my cruise dates to 28 May 2006? Anyone had to do this? I already deposit 600 for the cruise through Dreams unlimited, do I go through them or do I go through DCL? Also my friend will have to change her dates but she went through another agency, will we be able to call DCL once we have changed the dates and see if we can get rooms close togheter as well as seating together?

DCL will not allow you to change your cruise if you booked through a travel agent, you have to call the travel agent and they will make the change for you. Your deposit is fully refundable up to at least 3 months before the cruise (refund period is different depending on what category room you booked). But you are way ahead of any of the time constraints. I have two suggestions:

1. Cancel the cruise you booked through the travel agent and the deposit will be refunded. Then call DCL and book the new cruise and put down another deposit. Only problem with is is you may have to pay another $600 on your CC before the original deposit is refunded, depending on your billing cycle.

2. When you call your travel agent to change to the other cruise, ask them for a room that has at least one adjacent room available. If they are a good travel agent they would be happy to do this for you. Then have your friend call her travel agent, change the cruise and request that adjacent room. I've never tried this but it should work.

Also, once you both have your reservations, one of you should call to have your dining linked together. You will need both reservation numbers, then call your travel agent and tell them you want to dine together.

Dreams should be able to take care of transferring for you. Drop them a line and tell them what you want them to do. They have been very very accomodating with anything we've needed.

We changed our dates through Dreams Unlimited & had no problem at all.

When I changed my dates (about 3 years ago), I did not have to put down a second deposit. They just cancelled the original cruise and rolled the deposit over to the new dates. Yes, on paper you have cancelled and rebooked, but there was no financial issue involved at all.

Also, DCL will hold a room for 48 hours for a TA. You could book your room and have your TA put a hold on the adjoining room until your family could book theirs.

I was able to get my cruise dates changed. I am officially sailing on 28 May 2006. I did have some difficulty with Dreams Unlimited emailing me back in a timely manner. I had to get my condo dates changed first, and when they held those dates, I immediately email Dreams unlimited. Well I jsut got a response today. I do not like the fact that I can not talk with a live agent. They can take my money over the phone but can not talk with me in reference changing my dates. Not understanding that. Anyway I went with another agent that is close to home so my husband is able to call them. They seem really nice, and the agent has email me on more then one occassion to ensure me that if I need anything to contact her. Now I'm jsut waiting to redeploy from Iraq, and start the planning process for as our activities. I'm so excited. Thanks again.
