Help.. need some dinning advice from picky eaters

Okay so here is the deal. We'll be traveling to WDW May 18-24th. I've made ADR already for the following

50's Prime Time Cafe
Whispering Canyon
Hollywood and Vine
Concourse Steakhouse
Liberty Tree Tavern
Sci-fi Dine in Theater

Our group consists of G-ma, G-pa, DD 12 (celebrating her 12th b-day there at disney), DS 5, and DD's BFF, and myself. My son is a horribly picky eater and he'll be a challenge all week long. I'm prepared for that. I'm also a pretty picky eater. I'm one of those people who likes everything plane... no sauces, no garnish.

Are there any pointers that any of you picky eaters can give me or advice on places I should really think about as far as dinning goes other than where I already have. I originally wanted to book mama melrose instead of hollywood and vine but they were booked. My son and I both like pasta so I thought that would have been smart but we just had no luck.

Anyway, any help or advice any of you would like to give.... I'm all ears

I am married to the pickiest eater ever! He is so worried they will put mushrooms on or in his food he tells them he is allergic!
WDW is very kid friendly- mac and cheese, nuggets, hotdogs, chicken. Check out the menus for the places you have listed. Most anything listed with sauce can be served without or on the side and many resturants will sub like fries/mash potatoes for veg you don't want or like. You can even get plain pasta with butter instead of sauce.
We try and make sure to go to resturants that have steaks since I know if everything else does not appeal to my DH he will order the steak. Most sitdown TS has steak on the menu in some form so I can venture out to places I want to try ( I am an adventures eater) and know DH will be happy too.
Buffets are a good option, but we find it too much food, alot of sauce and the dredded mushrooms and DH thinks buffet are dirty beause too many people around 'messing' in the food. But kids love buffets with all the choices...

My wife and I have all our ADRs made for our next trip and she has what she is eating picked out and the modifications needed for her to enjoy the food. The staff at the restaurants have never questioned when she asked for something without sauce or with everything on the side.

BTW, I am also deathly afraid of mushrooms.

Well I'm not afraid of mushrooms but I wouldn't dare try one or eat anything if I found one in my food. I'm an anti onion, mushroom, tomato, you name it kinda girl. Nothing drives me crazier than a pickle on a plate when you get your burger or grill cheese...why? Because the bread soaks up the pickle juice and you can take it. blah!

I did luck out this morning and was able to get a table at mama melrose instead of hollywood and vine. At first I thought Hollywood and Vine would have been a great choice being that it is a buffett but there is one problem with a buffett for picky eaters. You can't modify the way it's prepared. So I'd be eating a super small amount of food. What a waste of a good meal!

My son on the other hand is the kid who wants just normal pasta with no chunks of tomatoes, fries, chick nuggets, and fruit...lots and lots of fruit! Yep, no burgers, hot dogs or anything of the sort. So he'll be eating lots of fries and nuggets wherever we can find them. There are also some places that he'll probably just have fries, desert and a drink. But I'm not going to torcher the entire family because of it!

No sauces and no garnishes? Not a problem. My husband always orders his food "naked". As long as the food isn't pre-mixed, you can order it anyway you would like it. My husband even gets his salads without tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, or onions. Also, if there is a side dish on the menu with your entree and you don't like that particular side dish, you can always substitute any other side dish on that menu or just ask your server if there is anything else you can get (fries are almost always available but not on the adult menu - they have to be there for the kids menus).

When I look at a Disney menu, I don't look at the specific entrees and everything that goes along with that one entree. I look at the entire menu and piece together a meal. Starting with naked meat.

Very picky eater here! I've eaten at all those places and never had a problem. Just tell them if you don't want something that's included and they'll take care of it. They're very accommodating!

Picky eater...check. Yep that's me and your choices sound good . Every place you go has steak, and you can get it without the sauce,garnish,icky stuff. You can sub the au gratin potatoes for just plain old fries. The buffets are always a good choice because they always have a "kids side" to them. Plenty of chicken nuggets,mac 'n' chz,pizza, plain pasta and so on . 1900 park fare comes to mind,---really good food. Plus on a buffet you can get a little adventurous and try something that looks good. And if it isn't --no harm no foul just go back up and get something else..! Hollywood and Vine is good, Whispering Canyon --get the skillet and ask for ketchup!!! They are usually very accomodating @restaurants--especially for kids --if it's not on the menu call ahead maybe they can get it for you.we went to Hoop dee Doo Review last year and my son isn't big on BBQ . They Brought him chicken nuggets,fries and mac n chz--no problem.

Me being picky drives DW crazy but I have to agree with the comments!

The places you picked are all fine and have plain, good food.

hahahahaha... my cousin would love the sectioned plate. I don't like my food to touch but I'm not finatical about it. I'm worse when it comes to the pickle thing!

I thought the Concourse Steakhouse was closing May 10th? How did you get a reservation there? Is it still open? I didnt make reservations there for my May 12-21st trip because I thought it was closed. If you could let me know if it is still open, that would be great. Thanks!

1900 Park is in the Grand Floridian. It's a character meal -both breakfast and dinner.

We went to Sci-fi the last time we were at Disney. Most of the adults in the party weren't to crazy about it (but then again we had someone who is very very critical of food) but the kids absolutely love that place so I promised we'd go back on our last night there. Sure, there's transportation to all the resorts. There's no direct transportation from one resort to another, you'd have to transfer at a theme park.

It'd be easiest to do 1900 Park on a day you're going to be at MK. From the MK, you can either take a boat or monorail to GF.

oh picky eaters, im not alone! i had to pick all the places im going with my BF in august because ill only eat like 4 things haha. i would definately suggest 1900 park fare for a picky eater, i go there every single trip because i can always eat something. im highly picky but like random stuff. hope you find it to your liking! also i hve noticed above someone mentioned that disney is usually good about people ordering the food "naked" ? i hope so because i wont have anythhhhing on my food, servers usually ask me a milllion times if im sure because they bring the plate out and it looks so blah but it looks like gold to me! i have another question..sorry for coming in and bombarding everyone like this ( i get alittle over excited when i find boards that i am actually very much in need of) i dont like sides very much - i prety much only eat fries, for most dinners ill be eating chicken or prime rib...since they usually come with mashed/baked potatoes and i dont eat those do you see them allowing me to substitute fries? siilly question? probably but i thought i would ask?!
