Help! Need other alternatives for drive down. Valdosta booked solid Sat!

Our travel plans were a little up in the air until yesterday so I didn't make a reservation for our hotel on the drive down. I just checked availability in Valdosta and everything is booked solid for Saturday night! I usually travel I77 to I95 and have never had a problem finding a room so this is freaking me out. Does anyone have any alternative towns I can try to get a room? My nightmare is driving someplace I have never been before and not being able to find a room. Help!

I checked Travelocity for you -- I didn't spend a lot of time, but at the time I checked (12:30 AM CT), these hotels were showing availability:

Thanks. I guess I should clarify I don't want to spend $80 on a hotel room. Both of those rooms are out of my price range. I have always been able to get a hotel for under $50 so that is my budget. We will only be there to sleep so it doesn't matter what else they offer as long as it's clean.

Anyone stopped in Tifton or Adel overnight? I'm going to do some checking on those areas today.

I just am afraid I will get stuck without a hotel. Man I think that's a sign I'm getting old. I remember the days when I just hopped in a car and didn't worry about where I would stay.

Ah - I didn't realize that when I checked for you.

I just checked Priceline and they seem to have availability in one and two star hotels in Valdosta, although I can't go far enough in the process to be sure.

Nope. Tried Priceline last night and it was a no go. I found availability north of Valdosta so I think we'll be ok. Thanks for your help. I get nervous before I head out on a trip!

Tifton isn't bad. Hotels are very close to the highway and there are enough food options around them. The town is a small town and the people are nice (I used to live there).

Tifton is good if you want to stop short of Valdosta. Lake City, FL is good if you want to drive a little farther. I'm sure others have had good experiences there but, personally, I'd avoid Adel.
