My DH and I leave Friday for WDW, we are currently staying at CSR but my DH was thinking maybe we should go deluxe. ( gave me a lot of notice, huh  ) This question is for the CM's and other very knowledgable Dis'rs. Is there a way to get a last minute deal on a deluxe hotel. Our current stay was book through the infamous WDTC and we used the DC discount. We are booked room only. I jhave heard that you can get last minute cancellation rooms, it this true? If so how do you do it?

Thanks for any help you can give me

I don't know about the last minute deals, except at the Ocala AAA Disney travel center, and that is hit or miss. I've heard it's worth a stop if you are going by there anyway. I don't know if they can move over your current deposit. mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#ocala

The main thing I'd be concerned about is change or cancellation penalties for your current reservation. What does your confirmation say?

If you can't find another discount at this time, and you will have a car, I'd call Ocala & see what they can tell you. And I guess you'll have to call WDTC. Use the toll free DC number!

I don't think you ever get penalized for upgrading. And it never hurts to ask. If it were me, I think I would call and say we're thinking about upgrading and ask what the best rate at the deluxes would be. Tell them you aren't willing to pay the rack rate but were just curious about any deals - I mean, what could it hurt?

My husband travels alot for business and plenty of times bargains for a good room rate at other hotels; I have no idea if this can be done at Disney, but it a hotel has empty rooms, usually they'd rather fill them and take a little less than not fill them.

Be polite and keep your hopes at a realistic level - what's the harm in asking?

Good luck - let us know if it works!

Packages (even basic plan ones through DC) are supposed to have a $50 change fee. :(
