Help! Need hat suggestions, what type do you wear?

I hate to wear hats ! That said, I wear a really good sun visor. This is the kind that is snug on my forehead. It feels so good, and I never travel without it.

I hate hats too. I also wear a sun visor so my ponytail can just pop out the top! My kids though, wear bucket hats. Helps to keep the sun off their ears and neck as well. DH likes his MM baseball cap!

I usually wear a visor - but just have to make sure that it's not too snug around my head as it gives a headache after a while. Hats make my head sweat too much (ewwww)

I wear a baseball hat on my trips. Been sunburned on scalp several times, and never again. We go in so many air conditioned places I take it off then, and loop it through my purse until I need it again.

I live in baseball caps. I have quite a few and now I feel naked if I go outside without one. I even wear them in the house sometimes. :)

Lets see last year, I wore a Straw hat with a leopard print chiffon scarf on the top part knotted in the back and part of the scarf trailing down my back. I purchased this in Adventureland. Absolutely loved it, got many compliments considering I hated hats, but was so hot and I relented.

This summer I had a yellow visor which I purchased on Main Street. This one had Tink on it which said "Looking for lost boys" :teeth:

Ball caps. I like light colored ones for WDW. I also have a rubber visor that I wear in the pool and at BB or TL.

Just back from 10 days in the scorching sun and my husband swears his new Nike "playdry" ball cap is the best thing ever. It was red and had "breathing holes" in it. Best of all it was easy to locate him!!! My daughter's new Pluto baseball cap was a big hit too! pirate:

We wear Tilley hats because they are waterproof, wide brimmed and they float (great for the water parks!). They are great for the afternoon summer storms because the water just drips off them. They are very cool and never have blown off on any ride that we've worn them on. They are expensive though, but well worth the money and come with a guarantee. We have to get one for our DS10 this year, but not sure we want to spend the money because he lost his last time we were at WDW!! He prefers a baseball cap anyway!!

Isn't a straw hat a pain in the neck while going on the rides? I love my straw hat when out in the sun as it is light weight and really keeps me cool but thought it would be a real nuisance to hold while on the rides as I am sure it will blow off!

Earlier this year at the Orlando airport I bought a paper floppy hat. It looks like a straw hat, but it is actually 100% paper. I found it at a store where everything was $10. I happened to find another one at a clothing store at home, so now I have two of these hats. Both hats are good for packing in a suitcase because they can be scrunched up, folded, etc. I do the same thing on Disney rides.

hey, ive got one of those paper hats -found it at k-mart a couple years ago--use it in the pool, it's gotton wet and still hold it's shape. for wdw trips i buy a visor, last trip i had to get one.....to much sun.... so we usually all get a new hat on the first day, yeah i know we could bring one -but for us it's fun to get a new hat!! :rotfl2:  :cool1:

Bought $3 Bucket Hat for DS8 to wear this trip. Hoping to get Character Signatures (using Sharpie) on it. I have a baseball hat that I bought on our 2000 trip at Animal Kingdom that is my all-time favorite. Also have one of packable straw looking hats (found on clearance at Walmart last year). DH wears baseball caps all the time anyway.

Not really I would remove it and since it was so soft and pliable I would just hold on to it until the end of the ride. I first thought I would crush it but never did. And I went on all the rides too. :teeth:

What a great idea!! Now I can meet the characters on my solo trip and not feel embarressed as I will have a mission!! Get all the signatures I can on my little nephew's hat!! :) And a picture of me doing it also!

As far as the hat idea.. I have spent the entire summer searching for the "perfect hat". I have yet to find it... I had one in Macy's that i saw earlier in the year and it WAS perfect.. but for some unknown reason I did not purchase it!! ARGH!! So, I too am looking for that hat! I plan to spend LOTS of time by the pool next week while at the world.. so, I really want a big floppy hat to keep the sun off my face.... Good luck on your search!!

IMO, the perfect hat is one from Watership Trading Companie. http://www.watership.com/

These are GREAT hats! I have a Vineyard Haven, and it is wonderful for keeping me cool at WDW and any other time I have to be out in the sun a lot. Mine was $52 at REI, and I had to force myself to spring for that much, but over the years it has been worth every penny. DS even wrote about it in his school mother's day essay in kindergarten, "My mom looks prettiest when ... she wears her safari hat!"

Every trip I buy a WDW straw golf hat. The ones with the 3" brim all around. Mainly due to surviving melanoma skin cancer on my neck several years ago. Gotta have my shade.

That hat ended up being worth much more than the $52.00! :goodvibes
