Help! Need cheap "Single Ladies" ponytail ideas

DS and his crazy football friends are doing a Glee style mashup of "Welcome to the Jungle" segueing into Beyonce's "Single Ladies/Put a Ring on It" for their winter homecoming airband competition. They're starting out with trenchcoats and sunglasses, then whipping them off to reveal black (ladies) swimsuits and nylons. Now we're trying to figure out how to do the ponytails with all these short haired boys. I thought maybe swimcaps with elastic sewn on as a chinstrap, but what could we make the ponytails with cheaply? Or....???

(And, yes, I'm videoing it for their senior video someday. They practiced for hours today, and the choreography isn't too bad)

Not sure if this would work, but Sally's Beauty supply has tons of fake hair pieces that are attached to clips (my DD uses them for her dance revues).

They were with the hair clips and headbands

I've seen hairpieces (on clips, etc.) at Rite-Aid/CVS/Target. I think what could work is a headband with a wig or hairpiece attached to it. The hair can then be pulled up into a high ponytail if you like and the hairband will disguise the actual hairline, plus the hairband will anchor the hairstyle (since it sounds like the boys don't have much actual hair to anchor the wig to). If you have any theatrical-supply stores or party-stores near you they might have some wigs that would work.

Well, boys will be boys, and wore the fake hair for the GNR part, but not the Beyonce part! And the kid who taped it did it next to some really mouthy brat, so that's most of the audio, but at least they had fun! Here's the link...
