Please please anyone that has experienced this, please tell me what to do!! We recieved a phone call from Westgate Resorts about this great package that was for our entire week at their 5 star resort. Only $200 so yeah we're thinking about it. BUT, they require this 90-minute speel on the day we leave about timeshares. We can't afford nor have any interest in timeshares. This will be our one and only trip to Florida. I have read to avoid this kind of stuff because they won't let you leave until you say yes. It would be nice though, to stay in a fancy resort. We already have a deposit down at AllStarMovies, but that can be cancelled. Any advice would be great!!

Personally, I don't like those time share "presentations". I've gone to a couple and found them extremely distastfull.

If it were me, I'd keep my resv. at AS.

JMHO,

See, our dilemma is that we don't want to get into a situation where they won't take no for an answer and we miss our flight out. Also, has anyone stayed at this resort and how close is it to Disney? They say free transportation, but we don't want it to take hours to get there.

I would not recommend it. We stayed at Westgate Lakes back in May. I was not impressed at all by the resort. It was definitely not a 5 star resort. I had been told this also. Yes, the lobby was beautiful, so I was very excited. However, our room was not!!!!!!! The tile in the kitchen and bathrooms had permanent mildew, the carpet was stained and the bathroom was yuk!!!! When I tried to switch units, they told me none were available. I am sure this was due to the bus loads of seniors that were staying there. They were very rude at the sales pitch when I expressed my dissatisfaction. They had the nerve to tell me that they kept the nicer units for the owners??? They also told me that they were going to be refurbishing the older units. They tried to drag out the presentation, but I wouldn't let them. I explained that their 90 minutes were up and there was no way they could convince me to buy. They finally let us go after that. I talked with a couple that was staying next to us and they said they kept them at the sales presentation for over 2 hours.

Also, if you are planning to take a break from the parks, it is an inconvience to get back in your car and drive to the resort. It ended up taking about an hour to get back to the resort. We have ressies at All Star Movies for November!!! I would definitely stay on site if I were you.

The salespeople on those type programs have to sell 4 out of 5 presentations or meet with the Boss.

If you want a time share, buy it from an existing owner. the magic month is 72. After 72 months most want out and will dump it at any price. deal directly with the owner or through a licensed Real Estate agent.

To many of those programs don't live up to what your sold and many don't even maintain the property. Twenty years in Real Estate and could write a horror story book on it.

If you think you may be interested, ask for a copy of the prospectious. If they will not give you a copy to take with you, forget it and leave.

Stick with the allstar.... much more convienent. Besides, the timeshare people have to sell a certain amount... do you really want to spent part of your vacation being hassled into something you don't want?

I wouldn't want to end my vacation that way!
I'd stick with the AllStars - you'll be on-site so you get those perks too! It's a hassle to have to drive to a hotel off-site after a day at the parks.

Tony's Gal--

We stayed at the Westgate Lakes Christmas Week 2000. The condo was roomy, but nothing special. Staying on-site has so many advantages. You can go back to your room more easily, and it's themed. As it turned out, we were in the parks all day, so we didn't even cook in the condo. Fighting the traffic was a HUGE pain. If you have kids, I would think they would love the All Star.
