Help!!!

My son has his blue and gold banquet on Tues. I thought we were to bring a side dish, our leader said they changed it to main dishes!

Help!!!!!! I have no idea what to take. Has anyone out there had their banquet yet?

Thanks for any help...

Do you just have to do one main dish or enough main dishes for everyone?

How about baked ziti, kids like that. I definitely wouldn't stress about food for Blue and Gold!

we always got stuck with the main dish.....and they wanted casseroles ..alot easier to do and serve......so I made a chinese pot pie......bottom layer was scrambled hamburg....sometimes onions and green peppers really small with it....and then the next layer was a few cans of cream corn...and then top layer mashed potatoes......with not alot of milk in them to mash ......put it in the oven and then it is ready to go......the kids liked it as well as the parents

Hooray! Fast replies..thanks so much!

No, we each have to bring one main dish.

I did not think about ziti. May have to do that.

Any other ideas?

Have you thought about Stouffer's frozen lasagna? We went to Sam's one year & had those for our main dish one year- they were great!

We always brought Hot dogs and buns. and condiments.....and it was the most popular dish every year.....First year I brough 24 next year I doubled it...never had leftovers of my dish...:D :D :D :D :D

meatball sandwiches...mac and cheese with cut up hot dogs...tacos with fixings...chicken drumsticks, either breaded or with BBQ sauce...see whats on sale at the store.

zurgswife

Do you try to keep the hot dogs warm? What about the rolls?

The hotdogs will stay warm in a big thermos with hot water. This is a favorite beach lunch for the kids.

Baked ziti or meatballs always are a big hit with kids or a bucket of fried chicken.

I have seen hot dogs in a crock pot of water to keep them warm.

Popeyes or KFC chicken is always easy and there are never left overs.

PamOKW,
Blue and Gold is the annual banquet/recognition ceremony for the Cub Scouts. Traditionally this is when the boys advance to Wolf, Bear, Webelos and then earn their Arrow of Light and "Cross The Bridge" over into Boy Scouts.

What about macaroni and cheese or scalloped potatoes and ham?

I have been to a lot of Blue and Gol'ds

The most popular dishes are hotdog (incrockpot) sloppy joes or bbq's in crockpot with buns on the side.

Also, some once brought pizza hut pizza and there was a stampede for that line, LOL.

Mac/cheese works too.

herc.

Ours is Saturday and it is catered...so don't have to worry about it (thank goodness)

Cubbies are not normally picky. By the time that they are boy scouts, you really do not have to worry because they will eat everything in sight. Do not worry and just go and have fun.

Our Blue and Gold was Saturday. Our pack provides fried chicken and the rest is covered dish. Let me see if I can remember what went over well .... baked ziti, Mac & cheese, lasagne, augratin potatoes, fresh fruit salad. One of the cutest things I saw was that someone brought a box of PB&J crustless sandwiches. Great for the little siblings! If your school does Market Day, that is where they came from, but you could certainly make your own.

OM gosh!
Thank you everyone for your replies. I knew I could count on you!

I was looking through my recipes and decided....Stouffers lasagna.

We are going to be so busy tomorrow, I really don't have time to cook.
We had to reschedule a parent teacher conf. for tomorrow (due to last weeks snow), and with work and picking up my other from preschool it is going to be tight.

I will keep all those ideas for next year though!
Thanks again everyone!
