Somehow this a.m. my indoor cat got outside. We are not even sure when. DH and I were both off and doing yard work in the morning. Or it could have even been when I was getting kids off to school. We are usually always very careful to shut door right away etc....even ds 3 knows the deal!
At 11:15 DH and I were both in the kitchen when we saw our beloved cat on the deck....she has never been outside. When DH went to get her...she took off and has been missing ever since :( A neighbor has been helping us look all day and night . We called local Police and SPCA. Also have alerted neighbors etc....
Ds 8 is extremly upset as "LUCY" is his kitty. We have had her little over a year and she is part of the family!

Anyone with any suggestions as to what else we can do ?? Anyone with experience with something similar ?? What are the chances she will return if she hasn't by now??

Thanks to anyone with some insight....

I don't think you've lost her for good. I bet she's fairly close by. Try and rattle some food in her bowl or the cat food bag (if you use dry food) and see if that brings her out where you can see her. One of our cats sneaks out once in awhile, and if I take the food outside and rattle it, he usually comes hot footing it home!:D

She may be a little skittish because she's not used to being out.

Put her fav cat food out for her tonight and hopefully she will come home. I assume you have been calling her to no end so hopefully she is still within ear shot and will come home when she is ready. Did she have on her rabies tag? If so, alert the vet and maybe someone will call them.
I know how you feel. Our 15 yo kitty disappeared 2 weeks ago and I guess she will not be back. She seemed to be in good health when I last saw her so I guess she wandered into the woods and probably got bit by a poisonus snake.:(
Hopefully your sprite young kitty will come bouncing home in no time!!:)

That's happened to me before and what I do is shake some food in a tupperware container. If you cat eats can food and know the can opener sound plug that in by the door and run that. Chances are Lucky hasn't gone far and is probobly just hiding somewhere. Also if you've ever given him "pounce" cat treats try shaking that can outside.

Good luck and I'm sure your Lucky will come home soon!

I'm sure she'll come back. My cat just got out a few weeks ago and I didn't even know until the second night. I found her waiting at the back door at 1:30 am when I got up to feed my baby. She was fine, but had a slug matted in her fur. She's declawed too.

don't give up hope - once my cat was "visiting" another family for over a month!:cat: (they found her, thought she was a stray and kept her - one day a friend of mine saw her in the window and knew it was my cat). I've also had another cat who was an indoor cat get out accidently and was lost for a couple days. He came back a little worn looking but he quickly recovered - plus he never ventures past the door anymore.:teeth:

Don't lose hope! I found my friend's indoor cat 15 days after he got out by accident. He hadn't gone far at all. I found him hiding under a bush near a parking lot at her apt. complex. The advice that the cat shelter people gave my friend was to check everything nearby, because most of the time the cat will stay nearby. We searched every nook and cranny, and suddenly there he was. He had lost some weight apparently, but he was OK otherwise.

My female got out for a full day as a kitten. She must have slipped out when one of us left for work. When I got home and realized that she was missing, I had the entire neighborhood out looking for her. We grouped in my neighbor's driveway to make a search plan, and suddenly the kitten popped out of the woods as if to see what was going on. I've never been so relieved in my life! She didn't go far either. Good luck...I think you'll find your cat soon.

Make posters to put up around your neighborhood. Include a picture if possible and your phone number. Be sure to keep checking your local shelter. Don't rely on them to look. Look yourself! Make sure you have contacted all humane societies, animal shelters and no-kill shelters in the area. Don't give up. Shaking a food container for a couple of days rounded up one of my skittish kitties who escaped!

Put some TUNA out on the deck. Cats love tuna.
I hope she comes back soon.:(

She will be back! Prince Theo totally takes off sometimes when I'm not paying attention. I think he just needs a break or something. Sometimes he even climbs up the friggin chimmney!!!

I'll pray just to be sure. But, I think she'll come back.

I hope you find your kitty safe and sound! My mom's cat got out once and was gone for five days. She found him under the next-door neighbor's bush. His front paw was somehow stuck through his collar, and he was NOT happy, but the story had a happy ending. Here's hoping she's back soon!
