Hi everyone, I received a 40% off code last Feb that expired on March 31.
I called Disney and the girl I spoke to said that they couldn't honor it because it expired. However, I could swear that I have read some posts from time to time saying that some people were able to use it even after the expiration date. Am I right? Should I contact Disney customer service? I called last June and they said they would honor it but we decided not to go, now we are thinking of going down for a week this Sep. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sorry, but if it expired on March 31, I doubt they're going to let you use it 3-1/2 months later.

I think you are pushing it. The code expired in March, and Disney was already nice enough once to let you still use it. And then you changed your mind. Do you expect them to honor that code forever?" Sorry, but you are the kind of customer that makes me want to bang my head against the wall when I am working (I work retail sales). Codes are not good forever. You can try and call and see what they tell you, but realize that they do keep track of your calls, and they will be able to see that they already offered to strectch the code for you once before, and you didn't use it. Why should they offer it to you again?

Probably what you are thinking of are posts where guests already have rooms/trips booked and decide to change travel dates or resorts. Then sometimes they can make their changes through guest services. But even that is no guarantee.
If the code is beyond the booking date, and you never booked, I am sure you are out of luck on that code.

Care to explain your dismay? Or do you really think a code that expred on March 31, and was extended again and not used, should now be valid?

Again the OP is welcome to call Disney and see what they tell her. Who knows she may get lucky. But I think it is silly to try to get Disney to honor a code that expired 4 months ago.

Try 16 months ago! Go back and read the OP's post. She got it LAST feb and it expired LAST march and she called LAST june.....I'm not believing this person!

Well would you if you were treated like an idiot? I agree that she shouldn't be able to use this long after it but wowee! It's not like the discount would take anything out of your pocket if she were allowed to use it. And hey it never hurts to ask. I have worked retail before, and if someone came in with an expired coupon and we had a similar deal going on we would honor it. Listen the point of a coupon is to get people in the door. If it does that then IT DID IT'S JOB! As far as retail goes I mean. Now, Disney is pretty nuts when it comes to it's offers it's pretty agravating actually. but I guess when you are a multi-billion dollar company you can play by your own rules!

I think that LAST Feb, Mar, and June could be 2008 since this is July and last June would be a month ago.

My dismay is at your answer. I hope that during training Disney teaches theirs CMs not to bang their head into a wall when a guest wants to use an expired code.

It would probably be dead silence for about five seconds, then "Could you please repeat that for me again?"

Oh my goodness....:sad2: (Even if this is a troll, what's the harm in being kind?)

Welcome to the DIS, Lopez! :welcome: I see this is your FIRST TIME POSTING! I certainly hope you don't think everyone is going to jump down your throat for asking questions in the future. (I think there are some people around here who take themselves much too seriously.)

Anyway, I am not really clear about the age of this offer you received, but it does sound like one you should give up on. Too bad you couldn't have gotten in on the free dining for Sept. (That one has expired too.) There are some room only rates available to the general public though. Try calling and asking for code DDH. Don't get your hopes up too high though. Apparently availability is quite limited.

I hope not. I would think that most CMs are ready for many types of questions and would not just sit there in silence. I am sure they have heard crazier than "can I use an expired code" which is not even that crazy.

Hey SurfinTX, I just love the pic in your sig. Just like a true Texan to wear their jeans to WDW. LOL :rotfl2: I think you guys are nuts to wear jeans in Florida, unless the trip was in December or January when the weather may sometimes get a little chilly from time to time. Nonetheless, just had to make a comment (btw, i'm not poking fun, just never seen a whole family in jeans at WDW even though i know it happens) :)

In regards to the OP, the code is expired so it shouldn't even be feasible to think it could be used beyond the expiration date. If they let you do it once, that's almost an act of God. To let them use it after you've canceled again, no way that would fly. It never hurts to ask, but i'd be prepared for an emphatic no from CRO. Your flip-flop caused you a 40% code, but it's not the end of the world. Simply choose a Value and you'll be fine. If Value's are too much, then consider offsite with the addition of a rental car unless the hotel you choose has shuttle service (most "affordable" hotels do not - even in Orlando). I've had to downgrade this year from AKL to POP and maybe just 1 or 2 nights at AKL, but nothing's impossible. Best of Luck.

You know what cracks me up on here ....

is those people who have thousands and thousands and thousands of post on here.....

they have nothing else better to do with their time so they just rip others to shreds.

I give their opinion no weight and never will.

I wasn't aware that telling someone they would most likely be out of luck trying to use an old code was "ripping someone to shreds." I also didn't realize that you had to sugar coat everything you said here. I guess some people think that being straightforward is rude.

Again, Disney was nice enough to agree that the OP could book with the old code once, which the OP didn't do. Just how many times should Disney be expected to do that? You have to be realistic at some point. Discounts are not good forever. Even if we wish they were.

The OP asked a simple question. Why all the commentary? No need to make this personal.
