I guess it is kind of our fault since most of our family vacations are Disney related but lately our 2 year old has become "obsessed". He makes his food into Mickey shapes, takes his Mickey doll everywhere, and only wants to watch Mickey Mouse themed shows and movies (he cried when The Three Muskateers ends and tells me he wants to "watch Mickey ALL DAY". When we go out for dinner he asks if we are "going to the castle". He is normally an agreeable and happy child. He hardly ever throws tantrums but I am worried that he just seems to be interested in Disney. Can anyone else relate?

Can one be too interested in Disney????:rotfl2: I can only go by my DS who will be 2 next month. Right now he is on a Caillou kick...thank goodness for DVR:worship: and he loves the Cars movie. I also have to play the Imagination Movers Cd a million times a day so he can "dance." I think they probably go through phases. It sounds cute:)

Yes! Our DD is 2 and she is totally into Mickey as well. In fact, when we drive by the mall where there is a Disney Store, she starts calling for Mickey. When I think she's had enough MMC etc, I tell her Mickey is napping, or taking a bath or eating lunch, dinner or whatever. It works for some reason and we are able to redirect her to other things....hope this helps :)

Oh my gosh! Okay, so I can relate to this. I am so glad I am not alone. My mother in law says to me the other day "Don't you think you guys should cut back on your vacations to Disney? You seem to like Disney...a lot". I can't help it. Disney vacations are just so fun for the whole family and affordable compared to others.

Yes. Good point. It probably is a phase... I suppose some people are obsessed with collecting figurines or sports and other things. Why not Disney! DS loves the Cars movie also!

My DH says ME and my DD6 are Mickey crazy. We find hidden mickeys everywhere we go and he just looks at us like he could stick us in a crazy bin!!!

Yeah, our LO is 21 months and loves not only Mickey and the gang, but Disney in general. And sure it is probably mostly our fault, but o well. See, we are all Disney nuts, so she is just fitting in! LOL. We have collected many Disney items and actually our dd9 wants to redo her room because she was our Disney collector and she feels she is too ol for all these stuffed toys!
Anyways, our LO will cry for "diney" when I have the computer up! She knows my screensaver is a slideshow of Disney picts from her first trip, I also have played slide shows of her last trip and have all of our video downloaded. She gets so mad at her older siblings if they want to use the computer while she is looking at these. She watches only 2 shows, MMC and Barney, and yes thank goodness for DVR! Ide say its just a phase. I think its pretty cute, she just recently started showing favoritism for Pluto, so I hope we get to see Pluto durring our trip in Sept for her. I cant wait, she went to Disney at 5mo and that was a fun, easy trip. She went at 17mo and she fell in love with Disney and had a blast, she talks about it everyday so now we are going back Sept, I just cant wait to see her little face when Mickey comes to see her while she is eating breakfast! Enjoy your LO and the little obsession for now, at least its just Mickey! :thumbsup2

I feel so much better now and relieved to know we aren't the only ones! DS had his first trip to Disney as a newborn, then at 5 months old, and so on up until now. It is just the best feeling looking at the joy in his little face. There is just nothing better than that!

I think that's adorable! I wouldn't worry about it, either -- there's always something kids are "obsessed" by -- Pokemon, Webkinz, Hanna Montana. And DH is obsessed with bass fishing, so I'm not sure it's something they ever grow out of, either...:)

We're taking our daughter for her first trip in December and she's already Mickey obsessed. She sleeps with her mickey stuffy and as soon as she gets up she wants to watch "Miceh Mouse" (we're still working on correctly saying it :goodvibes). She also loves Cars and Imagination Movers. There are worse things to be obessed with... my husband loves football. I'd rather love a mouse. :rotfl:

My DD is 1 and completely obsessed even though we haven't even taken her to WDW yet! Mickey and the rest of the MMCH gang are the only cartoon characters she recognizes, it is the only show that she's ever sat down to watch, and she's got a whole ritual built around it. When she hears the opening music, she gets her blanket and her Mickey plush, drags them to the middle of the living room floor, sits down, and starts babbling at Mickey. I can only imagine what she'll be like after seeing WDW!

In our case, I can blame my DD7 for the obsession. She is determined to make sure DD1 knows who Mickey is before our first trip, so since DD1 was about 5mo, DD7 has been sitting down to cuddle with her and watch Mickey Mouse Club House. :littleangel:

My 2 yr old has been obsessed for months, Mickey toys, books, TV shows...it drove us nuts. She even learned the characters names (before she could say many other words). Then, out of nowhere, her obsession turned to Diego & Dora (drives me even crazier). So I think it is normal for this age to go through crazy phases.

When I think about it, she is often that way with her other toys too, she'll be really into dolls or trains or whatever for awhile, eventually she'll move onto a different interest.

I don't understand the issue. I am 50 and am obsessed with Mickey (and all the others for that matter). I am sure....well, I was going to say I was sure that it would pass. but maybe not, it has not passed for me. I guess it could be a worse obesession.
