In making some adjustment to my November vacation today MS informed me that I had 72 - 2008 use year points available and 175 points available for 2009 since 25 points were borrowed. At this point I realized something was not right since I had no reason to borrow any points!!!

Apparently, yesterday in changing over my resort from SSR to BLT in November, MS mistakenly borrowed 25 points from 2009 as opposed to taking out the additional points from my 2008 points (my use year is December).

I told the MS cast member that I was speaking to today that this was not authorized by me and since I had 72 remaining points for 2008 why would they borrow from my 2009 use year??? :confused3 The CM at member services realized that this was an error and told me that there is nothing that she can presently do about it online but a Manual Adjutment would have to be made which might take a few days and at that time the 25 points would be put back into my 2009 use year. She also said that I should keep an eye on my current 2008 points to make sure that they adjust them correctly.

She told me to call back in about a week to make sure the adjustments were done correctly.

So what I want to know, is she giving me accurate information?? I do not want to be out 25 point for next year as I have a huge event planned for next year. I think even in the end the points would come out to the same in total when I bank the remaining points for next year but I do not want to be messed up with my points. Please help me with some advice about this.:headache:

Thanks

This seems to happen occasionally. They borrowed points on me when I extended a vacation a couple of years ago. They fixed it when it was brought to their attention with a manual adjustment. I guess I was speaking with a supervisor, because it was done right then...or it could be that manual adjustments now take longer because of a computer system "upgrade." You know MS upgrades, 2 steps forward, one step back.

Yes, she is right, some "fixes" have to be done "manually." (Whatever that means, I think it means that most MS CM's can't do it, some programmer-type has to take care of it.) It does take some time, but it sounds like she immediately agreed that it was their mistake and should be fixed. Do keep checking on it, but it should be okay.

OP, don't worry. This happens more than it should. I think it happened to me four times last year. Yes, they will do a manual fix and it generally takes about 3 days. Keep checking and if it doesn't get fixed, I find emailing them is easier than trying to call and hoping to get someone who understands the dilemma. Good luck.

Sad but true, it happens more than it should and the "new" computer software is suppose to not let it happen.

The MS Advisers don't have the ability to adjust points as a safeguard against even more errors. Adjustments are done by Senior Advisers and since there are more problems then Senior Advisers, the backlog causes a few days delay.

You can verify the correction by checking your account on the Member website.

Don't worry they will correct it. Do check back to make sure but this does happen from time to time. It happened to me a few weeks ago. At that time there must have been a supervisor available so they put me on hold and fixed it. I can see the manual entries directly to my account.

Call back in a few days. If you get a CM that doesn't understand, just be persistant and when they finally do, ask them to put a comment on your account. I had one of these problems close to a banking deadline one year. the 'fix' took quite a number of days as it also involved developer points. I was worried about missing the banking deadline. They noted it on my account. I 'tested' it by calling back and asking another CM. Worked well. They didn't manage to sort it out before the banking deadline but they properly banked all my remaining points once it was fixed.

Long story short....it may take a few days but they will fix it.

I had that happen one time a couple of years ago. I was doing a day by day with plenty of current year points. They used the current year points for the first 5 nights. For some reason, when I called for the last night they returned all the current year points and borrowed from the next! They were able to reverse it with a manual change.

Thank you all so much. I do feel a little better now and not in the panic that I was in when it happened. It's just a smae that this problem appears to hahappen often; hopefully they can resolve that problem sometime in the near future. As you all suggested, I will check in a few days to make sure the manual adjustmnet was done.
