Okay...we basically have our trip planned out and had planned on being at the MK on Christmas Day and having dinner at LTT. But I've just read a post that someone left...

"...the only piece of advice I can give you is DO NOT GO TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM ON CHRISTMAS DAY..We went and left in 10 min as you can not even walk ,you are just shoulder to shoulder and it is truly horrible.."

Is this true? Should I think about adjusting our plans?

Thanks!
Jody

We were at MK for Xmas 2000. It was packed, really packed and I go in the summer but this was crowded..... also the park closed because of capacity...that many people.. We went to Crystal Palace for dinner and they were having a terrible time with the flow of things because of all the large family groups, so we sat forever and never did see all the charcters...

We won't go back at Xmas time... Summer, spring break anytime but then

I had spoken with one of my friends who is a great source of Disney knowlege, he had been at MK on Christmas Day 2001 and told me don't do it if you don't go often to MK. We chose to spend Christmas Eve 2002 at MK instead. We had dinner at LTT and really enjoyed the day. We spent Christmas Day hanging out at our condo. We should have planned a little better, no groceries or restaurants open so we had spagetti for Christmas dinner - good thing for Walgreens!

My father, husband, son and I did have lunch at the ESPN Zone which was great and not busy. Everyone else must have been at the park.

We heard at the airport on the way home that MK was closed to new guests by 10 that morning.

Just be very prepared if you go Christmas Day to go early and not leave. Be ready for the crowds. I am sure you will still have fun.

I cant speak from experience, but Im going to try it anyway. Our plan is to get there for opening. We will do a few attractions then either have breakfast at Cindys(if we can get it), or leave and eat at Chef Mickeys. Either way we should be out of MK by noon the latest. We will then tour the resorts and check out the Christmas decorations.
Im going into this trip expecting the worst. We just got back from a Disney trip last month and we will be going again in July so I dont feel the need to do everything, just the special holiday stuff.

We also went Xmas 2000 and were not able to get into the park on Christmas Day, as we were staying off site. We did go to Epcot and MGM instead, and those parks were crowded but manageable and quite festive. MK was fine the next day. I would recommend Christmas Eve dinner at MK. I don't know if they still do this, but at some point on Christmas Eve night it "snows" in the park.

If you do want Christmas Day in MK, go at opening. I would change your PS to breakfast instead of dinner and leave MK before lunch. Restaurants in Epcot's World Showcase or one of the resorts would be nice for Christmas dinner or lunch. If you aren't already planning on it, PLEASE look into staying at an on-site resort. Off-site is fine other times of the year, but the traffic into the park is unbearable at Christmas.

I was at MK on Christmas 2001, and I had to leave since it was WALL TO WALL!!! I couldn't even walk, it was that bad. I got claustrophobic, and I'm not claustrophobic. MK got like that almost every time we were there that week. If you're planning on going, either plan on arriving at opening and leaving by lunch, or try your luck and arrive late afternoon, after the 3:00 parade. A lot of people leave after the parade, and if the park was closed, they usually open it up around 4:00. As much as we loved seeing the decorations and the Christmas Parade at MK, I don't think we'll be back at that time, anytime soon. It was just too crowded, and this is coming from a summer veteran!!! The summer is practically desserted compared to Christmas!!!

My husband (who originally scoffed at my bright idea to go to WDW for Christmas week) is now getting into the "WDW Spirit" and is starting to read up a bit and is getting worried about MK. We did make the decision to avoid MK on Christmas day. We'll attempt it earlier in the week (Mon, maybe) then we've put it on our itinerary for Wed, the 24th. We have Disney Studios for the 25th and Epcot for later that evening.

I may live to regret this trip, but I have to get it out of my system (doing Disney during the holidays). We are preparing our house next year to put it on the market so this is our last big vacation for a while. Hopefully this time next year we'll be thinking about where we want to put our Christmas tree in our NEW HOME!!

Do they have to let you in if you have PS for one of the resturants? I wanted to do LTT for Christmas day but I'm not sure I want to spend the whole day there.

We were there for xmas 2002. We got to the park at opening and it was one of THE BEST CHRISTMAS mornings in my 42 yrs. We got out of Dodge fairly early (around 11:30). Nothing beats castmembers greeting you with "Merry Christmas" and handing out stickers and candycanes. We stayed at the Yacht Club and had a phenomenal Christmas (Gary Sinese at the Candlelight Vigil on xmas eve, dinner at Rose and Crown and a torrential downpour during Illuminations but it still went on!) Go with your gut. If it's your first trip go to another park Christmas Day, but if you just want to be at the BEST PLACE christmas morning, go to MK! Have fun and Merry Christmas!

Did MK Christmas 2001 and had a ball - yes it was crowded but since we have been so many times just got fast passes for the rides that were important to us and enjoyed the overall festive feeling. I believe that if you have been in a park at some point during the day you can get back in. NYE that same year some of us went to EPCOT when it opened to get the pins and then I went to meet my son and his friend at MK. When I got to the EPCOT monorail station everyone was waiting at the bottom of the ramp. I finally asked a CM if there was a problem. He said that MK was at the stage next to being closed but when I told him I had already been into EPCOT and needed to meet the kids at MK he let me right through and I had the unique experience of being the only person in my car on the monorail in fact maybe the only one on the whole trip. Sat back enjoyed my hot chocolate and pastry and hoped I would get there in time. There were three of us in the car from TTC to MK- they were one of the last two cars allowed in the parking lot. The kids were sitting on a bench waiting and we went right in. The moral is: If you have preferred seating maybe you should go to the park early then get the hand stamp and come back in time to eat. I don't arrive until 4PM this year so don't know if I will be able to get in any of the parks but will certainly try. We did BB Christmas Eve that year and it was empty but then it was also only in the low 70's at the warmest part of the day.

I had planned to spend christmas day in M.K with DS who is 9
Now I am having second thoughts ,we were going to have dinner in C.R.T but I have till 26 to diside
What is Epoct like?
Is the Candle lit poss. still on on the 25?
I was thinking af maybe just skipping the parks and just having dinner at Chef MIckeys instead
but I,m not sure if DS would be disapointed if we didnt do a park on christmas day
What about the Hoop de doo? we have Ps already but maybe we could change them.

RATS!!!! A perfectly good plot shot to heck!!
Tell me about it! My fiancee' and I are in the same delima. We plan on spending the entire day in MK with a Christmas dinner there, but we would also like to go back to the WL for a midday break and then go back to MK for the remainder of the night. But then there's the possibly of not getting back in MK later on that day.

It seems that many people have mentioned that the best time to re-enter MK is around 3:30 or 4pm. The afternoon parade is over by then, and many families leave. Of course, this is just a stratagy, it's not garunteed (sp?) that it'll work out that way this December.

Our plan for months had been to do Epcot on xmas eve and MK with PS Dinner at CP on xmas day....however I have been reading so much recently on this board about how seriously bad the crowds are that we have totally revamped our plans!!!!!

We are fortunate in that xmas lands almost at the end of a 3 week stay at the magic, so we will have done everything we want to do by then... our last 3 days really is just revisiting our favourites.. normally!!

Our thinking is that MK is our favourite park and we want to keep it that way, if the crowds are really bad, and claustrophobic as another poster put it it could spoil our day, who needs that kind of grief?!? Nah...we'll have brakfast in resort and then onto MGM (sorry Disney Studios!!) and PS PTC for a late lunch, and see how we go from there.

I am a lot less stressed with this plan..... perhaps a little visit to MK on xmas eve might not be a bad idea though!!!! Hmmmmm
