Anyone had any problems with renewing a passport? Office reckon they returned my son's passport on the 25th April (after four phone calls yesterday and being told different every time). They put him through to the courier in the end and he had to describe our front door. They confirmed they'd posted it through the door two weeks ago! Boulderdash! All the doors are the same here!
His original passport was returned that date, but they insist it was the new one and gave us a time it was supposed to have been put through the door. So basically, they are calling us liars!! I'm so angry as we go away in two weeks and now am in the process of cancelling due to the complaints procedure taking a minimum of two weeks.
When we realised his passport was out of date we phoned and checked turnaround, and used the passport check and send on the 16th April, so the date of 25th would have been only 9 days. Surely that's that is too quick as two days post would have given a turnaround of 7 days, which we didn't pay for. So I still think they are robbing us off.
Anyone else had problems? It's not the first time we have had a passport delivered here - but my house faces the corner and is on two different roads. The road name is actually on our house!
It is possible for us to rearrange the trip for July/August as has to be out of school and it will only cost us about ¬20 to do so but I really don't want to do that if I can avoid it as we have been looking forward to the trip for a long time. Plus the whole family has to rearrange too!
Hoping someone can puck my spirits up here as I've read else where sometimes that when you campaign, the missing passport seems to magically appear!!

I cant offer any help only to say I hope you get it sorted and you get to go.
We can go to the passport office here & queue all day and get a new passport in emergency and last minute cases, can you do the same in the U.K?
Keeping everything crossed for you.

Hope you get it sorted Lisa.
All I can suggest is visiting the passport office in person, fingers crossed it will miraculously arrive Monday or Tuesday, as I recall last year when I renewed the boys' passports the old ones came back quite a while before we got the new ones.:confused3

I just renewed my other halls passport and we did the check and send and it the new passport came to us within 10 days so it is possible for them to get them out that quick.

I do hope it turns up for u and u don't have to cancel/rearrange :(

Did it not have to be signed for?

This happened to me a few years ago (my passport), and it transpired it had been delivered to the wrong house (same number on the main road, as opposed to our road).

Not for the faint hearted perhaps, but I bit the bullet and we went anyhow, knowing that they were unlikely to check passports at the Tunnel UK side.

The person who was popping in to feed our animals, then kindly posted it to the DCR, and it arrived on the morning we were leaving :scared1:

You don't sign anymore, they just pop it through your door, and are supposed to take a picture of it! I'm getting upset now because my Dad paid for it as a birthday present and if we can't track it, its going to cost another £80 to replace and we have far too much financial commitment this year already!! Fingers crossed it turns up, though this holiday is becoming far too stressful now :-(

And I'd do that too - but we're on the ferry and I doubt we'd get through on tge way back!

Don't worry, I wouldn't really go without passports, I'd be the one that got caught and end up in prison!

We only found out Friday and were told to phone again on Monday, with a direct line to the couriers, it seems to me they said they'd delivered to the passport service but we've yet to talk to them! Looks like the trip is off anyway now as too much is happening and rearranging it might work more in our favour.
