I booked tickets on Jet Blue for our family to go to WDW. I booked my MIL as "Jane W. Smith"
Just a few minutes ago she called and said she made a mistake and her drivers license says Smith, J.W.
Is this going to be a problem getting through TSA? I'm freaking out that this is going to be a huge deal!

Despite what they said awhile back about names matching, they still do have leeway. And I personally would t be worrying about this.

Heck, United still puts correctly given names as Firstmiddleinitial with no space as first name. So MollyE is my first name according to them. Actually since DH's middle is short they usually smush it together like Robertmax (if his middle were Max). Not his actual name but it keeps on working.

This is the opposite but I bet it would work. She could always bring birth cert and also wedding cert if her last name was acquired with marriage.

Call Jet Blue and make the change. It shouldn't take long and it will give you some peace. I misspelled my daugher's middle name a couple of years ago when I was doing an on-line reservation. Delta fixed it by phone.

I'm surprised they only have initials on a drivers license, is she sure? I don't think it will be a problem since the initials match the name.

We're sure. I just double checked. She's got a very long Italian name that didn't fit in all those little boxes back in the day. They never changed it.

Thanks for the help everyone!

My name never matches. I have a short first name and a long middle name (maiden name) and a long last name. So I get "Jane" Sunder "Williamson" with half my middle name gone.

DH's plane tix always read "Joseph R Sxxxxxxxx, Jr" (filled in from airline FF programs), yet his license reads "JR Sxxxxxxxx, Jr".
never had a problem :)

United has my husband's name as Glens (His name is Glen middle name is Scott). It's never been an issue.

Also wasn't an issue the time I booked him a ticket and transposed two letters of his last name. They did tell me it would be a rebook to change it in advance, with a repricing of the ticket so they said to just deal with it at the airport, where it wasn't a problem.

I have since learned that if his frequent flier number doesn't come up, double check spelling.

I've only had one problem with my name not matching my ID TSA made me go back to ticketing. I went back to the ticketing desk and they couldn't reprint simply because my name is too long to fit. Went back through TSA and told a new agent that and he laughed and said the other agent must of had a stick you know where and on a power trip because they know longer names don't fit so missing 1 letter shouldn't have been a big deal.
