Help me work out a budget for DD for WDW in December?

It will be me (grandma), my adult DD and my then-to-be 6 yr. old granddaughter..

We will be staying at Pop Century from Dec. 2 - 7th, although we will arrive in Orlando on Nov. 30th and spend 2 days with my sister first up in Lady Lake..

I have everything covered for them (DD & granddaughter) except spending/eating/souvenier money..

We will attend MVMCP on the 2nd - "possibly" Sea World earlier in the day on the 2nd - 4 full days in the parks - and "possibly" Chef Mickey's breakfast on the day of our departure..

What is a reasonable amount for my DD to budget per day? How much would YOU budget if it were just yourself and your young daughter?

She has come up with various figures, but she's just not sure if she's figuring too high or too low.. If it's any help, they both eat like birds..

Did you schedule any PS's for lunch or dinner yet? If so, where? Will you be eating breakfast in your room or out? I'm taking it that lunch will always be in the parks and that dinner will be eaten out as well. I'm just trying to get more info before I respond.

Hi there, and what a great grand-ma you are!!

If it were me, I would budget about $150.00-$200.00 a day for the two of us.
That would give you plenty of spending money to splurge if you want. If not, then just bring the rest home and spend on something great there!

I would figure for lunches, if they ate at counterservice , then 20 a day...Dinner, that depends if it is going to be a sit down dinner or a counter service again. If it is counterservice, then 20, sit down, probably 45. Now you have your spending money...don't know how their budget would be for that.

lunches counterservice $20 x 5 = $100

Dinner counter service $20 x 5 = $100

Spending money $50 x5 = $250

Chef Mickey's $40?
let's make it an even $500

Just an estimate. They could eat breakfast in the room, which would save money. If they don't add another $100 onto the total. What a great grand ma you are!!! Have fun

Really depends on where you're planning to eat and how much they want to spend on incidentals and souveniers, C.Ann.

I usually calculate $50 daily for myself for food and incidentals. Most days I'm at about $30, which gives me a little extra for the on-site restaurant meals I do (usually H&V Fantasmic Dinner Package and one other dinner).

Since I don't eat a large breakfast, I usually purchase some bread rolls and fruit off site and eat in the room in the morning. Breakfast is $2 or $3 when I do that. I also purchase bottles of water off-site and take my first one into the parks with me, then purchase additional as needed--about $7.50 to $10 daily. Days that I don't have dinner, I'll have a snack (pretzel or something similar--carb city!--and a late counter service lunch/early dinner, about $8. Sometimes I'll have an evening snack, so that would bring the total to about $30 for the day.

It really just depends on personal style and budget!

C.Ann I was going to say 100-125 per day...If it were my DD and myself I know we would be bringing poptarts/ oatmeal/bagels from the room to quick fix in the foodcourt, use our refillable mugs, split lunch/counter service late in afternoon and then again for dinner as portions are so large...I bet DD and I would spend around 75 on food between us at most a day. I would budget $60 for the character meal, just in case she falls in love with the photo they take... a total of $50 (and that is on the high side) for souvee $$$ for DGD, my daughter has the charm bracelet, $5 for chain and $3 for each charm, if you can purchase Disney Dollars for souvee use, you can truly say when it is gone, shopping is done! If any are leftover, they can be used in the parks like cash or put towards room bill etc. The resorts used to let you trade it back for cash, but I do not know if they still do.
Since you will be visiting your sister first, you have the luxury of bringing groceries from there w/you, and a cooler which will help a lot. You can pack PBJ "fingers" we slice a sandwich into 4 rows, and they are a really great pick me up, to snack on in the park. My DD and I both have the charm bracelet, and had fun choosing 2 charms each...it would be fun for all 3 of you to have also...or maybe as a stocking stuffer with reminders of the awesome gift you are giving them...You ROCK C.Ann!!!!!!!!!
