We're doing a Universal trip in August when we take my DS down for the Disney College Program. This needs to be a budget trip, so I've ruled out the Universal hotels unless someone knows about a really fantastic discount. I'm looking for a hotel, suite ideally, in the $100-$120 range. Family of 5 and youngest is 13, so we need space!

I've considered doing the mousesavers Hotel Royal Plaza deal since it sleeps and the price is wonderful, but how would it be to say at Downtown Disney and commute to Universal? Would any of you recommend it? We're not doing Disney parks this trip but will be at Disney some getting DS settled.

Thanks.

Hi,

Why not look for a condo/townhome rental - there are quite a few situated between Disney & Universal and would keep to your budget and also give that extra space needed :)

Sorry can't recommend any hotels from first hand experience - someone else may have some ideas for you. :goodvibes

Right in the Universal Area I can recommend 2:

1- Comfort Suites in Mayor Blvd
2- Fairfield Inn By Marriot right behind Walgreens at Kirkman Road

Both have free continental breakfast. :cool2:

The Hawnthorne Suites on Canada Avenue is close to US. It minutes for WDW. I stay last year and it was clean and free breakfast was excellent.

I always Bid on rooms on that popular bidding website;) when we go to universal. Im my experience you can get a 3 star hotel for about $50-60 with taxes and fees. If you have never bid before there is a great instructional website also. I have stayed at ALL of the hotels that the instructional site has listed as being won. I can tell you that they are all nice. You would be able to get 2 rooms for your $100-120. My last win was Crowne Plaza Universal for $54. PM if you are interested and have any ?????
PS...Have no connection to these sites, just SWEAR by them as we have gotten great deals!!!!:woohoo:

Check the reveiws on Tripadvisor before you book anything. Some people are over the top in there reveiws but usually the majority of the reveiws will give you a general overveiw of cleanliness, upkeep etc.
