Hi ~ We have a Monday flight, departs around 2:30pm from Buffalo.

We live in Mississauga, Google Maps states 1 hour & 45 minutes.

How much time should I allot traffic & border?

Would a little over an hour more be enough for traffic & border allowance?

I was thinking something like this:

9:30am depart Home
12:30pm arrive in the self parking at Buffalo Airport
1pm in the terminal [we don't check bags and will have checked in online]
2:30 flight

That's probably way more time than you need. From Burlington I can be to the airport in a little over an hour. I would think 11am would still be ample, especially on a Monday. I crossed the border yesterday on a Saturday in 10 mins. At the Buffalo airport parking is a breeze and since you don't have luggage to check in it will probably only take you 20 mins to get from the parking lot to your gate.

That would look like:

11am leave Mississauga
1pm arrive Buffalo Airport and park your car
1:30pm Through Security at your gate with an hour to spare

Cheers,

Brian

I agree with this.

We are in Milton and left way too much time last time and ended up in the airport too long with two cranky kids!

When are you leaving? IF this is the Monday during March Break, I would definitely allow 3 hours - just to play safe :)

I just flew from the Buffalo airport last Friday, and there are some construction projects going on around the Security area which resulted in much longer than anticipated lineups!

Your original timeline is probably fairly accurate, but could be pushed back by 30/60 minutes ... it allows for weather (I was driving in a severe rainstorm) delays crossing the border, and parking at the airport.

Easier to have lunch at the airport before boarding than stressing about whether you'll get there in time.

JMHO ... have a great trip!

I'd leave early too Sandra. You can always spend some time at Walden Galleria Mall if you have more time to spare. Or, if you like Cracker Barrel like me ;), go to the one on Transit Road not far from the airport for an early lunch! :thumbsup2

I would leave no later than 8:30. Arrive early less stress and have an early lunch befor you head to BUF.

As posted earlier if you have no issues leaving at 10:30 is very reasonable.

Biggest variables are.
On the road
  • Construction
  • Volume
  • Road closed due to police investigation
  • Problems with your mode of transportation
Border
  • Congestion
  • Secondary inspection

Which bridge are you crossing. We leave tomorrow and the google map says to cross at Queenstown Bridge instead of the Peace bridge as I guess it is closer to the airport hotel we are staying at??

Is one brigde better/less congested to cross at?

Although the Queenston/Lewiston bridge is always the one recommended, it's the one I'm LEAST likely to take!!! There are fewer booths at this bridge, and the congestion backup always seems to be longest there whenever we cross.

I took the Peace Bridge going over last week and had NO delay at the border. It's a fairly direct route to the airport too. Came back via the Rainbow at Niagara Falls and again - no delays. Queenston was reporting a 30 minute delay at that time.

I will take the crossing if the other ones have collapsed into the river. Slight exaggeration on my part but the Queenston/Lewiston crossing seems to be slower than the Peace Bridge or Rainbow Bridge.
When going to BUF we take the Peace Bridge.

HamHam, you once gave directions to the bridge and across to the airport - do you mind sharing again.

Our hotel is on Millersport Highway so pretty close to the airport.

Click on map for route from the Peace Bridge to the exit for Millersport Highway AKA RT 263 from I-290.
Let me know if you need more help.

Has anyone every run into the Airport parking lots being full? When we went last spring break, the main parking lot was full and the sign said the B lot was closed, but luckily it was actually open and we were able to park there, but I thought I should look into a back up plan.

Definitely if it is March break leave lots of time. If you get there early you can have lunch somewhere, then head to the airport.

We flew to Vegas last Sun at 7am and the security line ups were the longest I have seen in my last few trips out of BUF.

We fly out of Buffalo the 17th @ 11am. I am thinking if we leave Burlington at 6am we will have plenty of time (I have to alott for time at border due to my Daughter being a British Citizen)
I have concerns over the airport parking lot being full. If this happens what does one do?? Suggestions Please!

Thank-you

My DH has the same concerns about airport parking. S:scared1:
