The wife has ok'd a trip for Thanksgiving week to Disney but we have to kind of watch the costs. Initially we were thinking WDW in a value room (2 adults and 2 little kids) but also have considered DLR in a Good Neighbor Hotel. We'll be driving to either place but I'm kind of torn about where to go.

Pros to WDW - Familiar, staying in the bubble, better dining options, Osborne Lights, Memory Maker, shorter drive (1100 miles), longer trip, MB & FP+, known costs.

Pros to DLR - New experience, new attractions, paper FP system, cheaper, better weather?, off-site doesn't diminish the trip

I'm kind of leaning towards WDW for Thanksgiving and DLR for a summer trip. It seems like Thanksgiving Day would be better at WDW than at DLR from what I'm reading, especially in regards to getting dinner and DLR would be better for a summer trip. I've been to DCA but that was prior to the addition of Cars Land and the expansion, but my wife and kids haven't been to DLR or DCA, so there is the opportunity to see some new things. The drive is longer to DLR from Texas (1400 miles vs 1100) but that's really only a tank of gas each way and maybe an overnight stay on the drive there and back. Staying off-site in DLR really isn't a bad thing since there aren't as many perks for on-site guests. DLR we would do 4 days, WDW we would do 5-6 days.

For those that have been to both, what do you think?
