I've already planned the itinerary (finally!) so what should I do next for my May 16 trip? Do I need a PS this early? It's DH and I. We'd like to eat at CRT for lunch or dinner one day.

See note below about dining.

Yes, indeed make your PS now. Especially if you plan to eat in the castle! You can make the PS call up to 90 days ahead.

Yes, most PS should be made close to 90 days out, depending upon what restaurant you want and what time of year. If you know, I'd call now.

:worried:

They had absolutely no PS for lunch or dinner on Friday May 20 - May 21 :(

I swore I asked someone before and they said you can make a PS when you arrived at your hotel so I though I had plenty of time..

Do people every cancel???????????

I want to eat at the Castle darn it.

The lady said they were very booked up on a lot of restaurants during that time :( And she said no odd time (like late lunch or early dinners) were available either.

Ok guys - need your help now.
What restaurant rec's do you have for each of the parks or Downtown Disney:

Epcot
AK
MGM (we already have PS for Fantasmic Dinner thank goodness)
MK (I want CRT I like the castle)
DTD (Fulton's Crab house, Earl of Sandwich ?)

Do we need a PS to eat EVERYWHERE???

How long are waits if you don't have a PS and just show up?? Like 2-3 hours?

Maybe you'll get lucky & someone will cancel. We've ate at CRT, but we made the PS at 90 days out.

At AK we are planning to eat at Donald's.

We like to make 1 PS a day. We usually do 1 counter service a day also. I make each PS at exactly 90 days out, it's an obsession of mine. :) There are lot of place at Epcot. You can check allearsnet.com for menus. :) Have fun planning.!

I called back for another restaurant and they said they had the whole day open. I panicked when the castle was booked. She told me the castle is always like that. That's a little relief. :scratchin

Oh yea we only are planning on no more than 1 sit-down meal per day - maybe even every other day. Counter service rest of time. It's too expensive to be eating sit down all the time for us.

Earl of sandwich is good but I don't think they do PS's. For MGM we are doing lunch at Sci-Fi Dine-In, but a lot of people like 50's Prime Time and we have a Fantasmic dinner package at Hollywood and Vine. For CRT call back several times a day every day, someone may cancel. I also heard you can walk up that day to see if anyone cancelled. It's a long shot but it may happen. We've never eaten dinner at AK so I'm not much help there. We always eat at Liberty Tree Tavern while in the MK.
Sending Pixie Dust your way :wizard: :wizard: hope you get what you want.

Are you wanting recommendations for sit-down meals or Counter svc restaurants as well? I'll give you a few suggestions:

AK- only one sit down restaurant, Rainforest Cafe. I don't think they take PS, but I might be wrong. For counter svc, both Tusker house and Flame Tree Barbeque are good. Tusker House has amazing salmon!

MGM- Brown Derby is really good, but also really pricey. For a more reasonable meal, Hollywood & Vine is good. It is a buffet, but the food is really good. Also, Primetime Cafe is good and fun, if you are into joking around with the servers.

MK- If you want to do a character meal, Crystal Palace is fun and the food is good. You'll see the Pooh characters there. Liberty Tree tavern is also fun, and the food is great- it isn't a buffet, so you can sit down and rest. For non- character meals, CRT at dinner is wonderful. Keep trying for a PS- people do cancel. You might get lucky and get in in the last 24-48 hrs. before- there are some last minute cancellations, too.

Epcot- There are so many good sit-down restaurants here, you almost can't go wrong. Just pick a ethnic food you like, and try it. Our faves are Morocco, Germany (a buffet), and Mexico.

As for DTD, I can't really help you there... we have never eaten at any DTD restaurants except Earl of Sandwich, a counter svc place. It was yummy!

For the time of year you are going, I'd try to decide on at least a few places to try and make PSs now. You can end up waiting a long time if you just walk in. But, you can always try to call for a PS the morning you decide where to go- you might just get in where you want!

Thanks for you recs MomofKatie!

I also remember someone mentioned a restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge... We might go there after or during our AK break :) I'm not really into Rainforest cafe (eaten at it here at the mall). I'll do some research.

Boma is a buffet at AKL. I keep wanting to try it but we never seem to make it over there.................
