We'll be spending (or I should say allotting) a day at Cocoa Beach in a month. It's just DH and I and our main goal is just to experience the beach and hit Ron Jons. We went there in 2005 and just hit RJs and walked down the beach.

Just wondering if people had any good advice for the following:

1. any places that teach how to safely use a boogie board? DH professes he can't wait to try this :sad2: and I'd like him to have some helpful hints before he hurts himself.

2. Any good casual restaurants? Since we'll be at the beach, I don't know how cleaned up or fancy we can get, but if there is a tasty and easy to get to casual place anyone can recommend, we'll check it out! I don't want to resort to IHOP or Subway.

3. Any good places to stop by or see while we're there?

Thanks so much in advance! I want to actually plan our day there this time!

We have a beach condo the Cocoa and enjoy the area very much. I hope you will too.

Regarding your questions:
1. Boogie boarding is actually quite easy and I'm not aware of any places that provide lessons. If he wanted to try surfing, that would be a different story! My suggestion is to just grab a board at Wal-Mart or Publix (they're sold just about everywhere) and go to the beach, observe others then try it out...its easy and fun!
2. Casual restaurants abound and most have outdoor decks for folks like you coming from the beach. Coconuts and Bunky's in Cocoa Beach are very convenient. Another option might be to go to the port and eat at Fishlips, Rusty's or Grilles. If you are there on Thursday, Saturday or Sunday, the ships are in port and leave around 4:30PM...its fun to watch them cruise by your table.
3. The beach is the best attraction and should be a nearly all day affair. However, Ron Jons and Cocoa Surf Company are fun to go to and shop. A visit to the pier to see if anyone is catching anything can sometimes be interesting. Frankly, the area is very laid back and is not full of "attractions" aside from a couple of putt putt courses. To us, that's what makes it great to visit there.

Have fun and enjoy!

when are you heading to the beach..there is a rocket lauch and then a shuttle launch both in early august Also the pier is my favorite casual place to eat. although everything is casual at the beach. The pier is near Ron Jons and they have fishing poles you can rent or you could just watch people reel some in also the place has great food. have fun
