Help me with August timing

I'm looking at spending a week at DLR in August with my kids :cool1:. I'm having a little trouble planning the timing of the trip, though. We have a family suite at Hojo for 5 days, and I want to add a regular room to our stay so we have 2 more days. I can add it to the beginning or end of the trip.

So either way we will be there when the AP ban lifts (I think?) and the D23 thingy is going on, I'm just trying to figure out which option is better for us. I know nothing is guaranteed as far as crowds go, and I promise not to finger point at anyone later if their advice turns out to be wrong ;), so any input is really welcome here.

Option 1: Tuesday August 16-Tuesday August 23

Option 2: Thursday August 18-Thursday August 25.

I know weekends tend to be busy, so we were going to do Sea World and Legoland on Sat/Sun to avoid the DLR crowds, is that a good idea?

No brainer. Option 1.

I would go earlier.

Less crowds as you have more time during the AP blocks.

I've pointed out before that Expo won't cause a huge rise in crowds. Most people will go for the weekend take some time in the parks but just can't go on the days around it. Before somone states they will go all week for D23 let me point out that Dissers are not indicative of typical guests.

If you go later you risk getting further into rehab season.

See, I mostly agree with you both and was leaning that way. However, I looked at the TP crowd calendar and it has option 1 has crowd levels of 9 most days and option 2 has crowd levels at 4 or 5 most days. So I am confused. I know crowd calendars aren't always right, though. Argh!!!

Last we checked TP had June 3 - the day the new Little Mermaid ride and improved Star Tours open - as a "3". And those days will be pushing the "10" envelope.

Their daily crowd ratings are at the point of meaningless right now.

This. TP is great for WDW, but I would for sure trust the DIS over it for DLR. :thumbsup2

Well then I'm glad I double checked with you guys here. I had figured the same thing, that earlier would be better, but then began to doubt.

Thank you! Now if only the air fares would come down a little bit...

I would have to choose option 1. You will also find the SeaWorld will be pretty busy over the weekend also.

Jack

I figured it would be busy on the weekend too, but thought maybe it would be less busy than DLR. I don't think we will be doing rides there, unless there are really tame rides that are worthwhile. I think we will be more into the shows and animals. But I need to do more investigating on that!

Plans are set! The kids don't know about it yet, so shhhhhh!

Thanks for the help :) I can't believe we are going back to DL!!!! :cool1:
